star this property answer text
The UK is providing more than £33 million to the earthquake response in Nepal. This includes £10 million for a new health programme so that children can continue to be immunised, women can deliver babies safely and work can commence on rebuilding up to 1,000 damaged health facilities. This was announced by DFID’s Secretary of State during her visit to Nepal on 19-20 May. Our support has also provided many thousands of needy people and affected communities with access to clean water and essential shelter, and has transported thousands of boxes of food rations and lanterns. Our pre-positioned water, sanitation, and hygiene supplies have also reached thousands of people.
more like this

In particular we welcomed his proposal for six ‘essential elements’ as a way to communicate the agenda in an inspiring and concise way to citizens everywhere. We were also pleased to note his suggestion that the UN System conducts a technical review of the Sustainable Development Goal targets to ensure that they are as implementable as possible.
more like this

To aid this further analysis, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has also sought information from the Home Office, Department for Work and Pensions and the US Government on relevant issues and on essential practical requirements associated with options to resettle a Chagossian population as well as continuing discussions with other interested parties including Parliamentarians and Chagossian representatives. This work is ongoing, and we will explain our conclusions to interested parties in due course. more like this
