unstar this property answer text <p>The Government has mandated local authorities to commission comprehensive open access sexual health services. Local authorities are best placed to understand and meet the public health needs of their local communities. While councils have had to make savings, they have also shown that good results can be achieved at the same time.</p><p> </p><p>The total number of attendances at sexual health services nationally increased 13% between 2013 and 2017 (from 2,940,779 to 3,323,275). To help manage the overall increase in demand, local authorities have been utilising technology to manage lower risk and asymptomatic patients. Free, confidential online services which are convenient for patients are increasingly being commissioned. As these services develop, they also have the potential to reach groups not currently engaged with clinical services.</p> more like this

The 2015 Spending Review made available £16 billion for funding for local authorities’ health improvement functions in England over the five year period. unstar this property answer text <p>As set out in the Secretary of State’s recent ‘Prevention is better than cure’ vision paper, community health services are key to delivering effective preventative care.</p><p> </p><p>Community health services are physical health services delivered outside of acute hospitals usually in patients’ homes, clinics, community hospitals, schools and care homes. They are delivered by a range of health professionals including nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists. They deliver care through all stages of people’s lives. This ranges from health visitors keeping children under five healthy, physiotherapists helping patients regain movement and function, to nurses managing patients over 65 with co-morbidities to enable them to be treated as close to home as possible. They can improve people’s mental and physical health simultaneously by providing treatment based around outcomes important to individuals.</p><p> </p><p>Community health services deliver a broad range of preventative interventions including activities to prevent falls; to manage long term conditions such as diabetes to prevent complications such as blindness and amputations; and to help with weight management.</p>

In the last year only one representation has been received, on behalf of one individual school, about the quality of produce used in the Scheme. The Department ensured that NHS Supply Chain, who operate the Scheme on the Department’s behalf, dealt with the issue speedily.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination uptake and completion data to end March 2017, published in an evaluation report on the first year (2016/17) of the pilot, showed that 8,580 of 18,875 eligible men who have sex with men had received the first of a three dose vaccination course, and 519 had already received all three doses. unstar this property answer text <p>There are no plans for a catch-up programme for older boys as evidence suggests they are already benefitting greatly from the substantial herd protection which has built up from the success of 10 years of the girls’ human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination programme. The priority is to make sure that as many eligible 12-13 year old boys and girls, are offered protection from HPV infection from September 2019.</p> more like this
