In 2022/23, an additional £50 million has been invested in NHS 111 to support increased call taking capacity and ensure that patients can access urgent care when necessary. NHS England and NHS Improvement are working with integrated care boards to improve patient flow and reduce ambulance handover delays, maximising Same Day Emergency Care services and access to Urgent Treatment Centres as an alternative to accident and emergency where appropriate.</p><p>In Slough, funding for 17 intermediate adult social care beds has been extended to June 2022 and an additional 20 bed community ward at Heathlands Heathwood Hospital has been created. An immediate ambulance handover policy is also in place at hospitals in Slough and capacity to accept paramedic handovers increased by 30%.</p><p>In the South East, Urgent Treatment Centres and Same Day Emergency Care provision is being developed to ensure alternatives to emergency departments are available at acute sites. Of this, approximately £45 million will be available to hospitals over the next three years to increase the number of neonatal cots in England to ensure high quality care in the most appropriate clinical setting.</p><p> </p><p>The NHS Long Term Plan commits to improve access to and quality of perinatal mental health care for mothers and their partners<strong>. </strong>Mental health services in England will be expanded to include new mental health ‘hubs’ for mothers, including those with premature children. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/12/2021 answer text <p>Whilst no specific assessment has been made of the findings in Slough, the South East and the United Kingdom, we are investing £250 million in a Winter Access Fund to support general practice teams in England and improve access. NHS England and NHS Improvement’s Access Improvement Programme is supporting 900 practices with the greatest access challenges, expanding to support a further 200 practices, to ensure that patients receive the same high quality of care.</p><p>We are working with NHS England and NHS Improvement, Health Education England and the profession to increase the general practice workforce in England. There were 1,841 more full time equivalent doctors in general practice in September 2021, compared to September 2019. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/11/2021 answer text <p>In the South East, NHS England and NHS Improvement continue to work with clinical commissioning groups and (general practitioner) GP practices to improve access to general practice and increase the capacity of the workforce<em>. </em>Regional teams will be working with systems in Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire areas, which includes Slough, to maximise the impact of schemes such as the Primary Care Network Directed Enhanced Service Impact and Investment Fund, aimed at early detection of cancer and addressing inequalities.</p><p>In some Primary Care Network areas in England, appointments can now be made in any primary care setting, other than the GP practice where an individual is registered. More routine screening appointments are now available at evening and weekends. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/12/2021 answer text <p>NHS screening programmes offer tests to people who appear healthy or who are symptom-free in order to assess a person’s risk of developing a certain disease or to detect disease at an earlier, more easily treatable stage. The offer of cervical screening is to determine an individual’s risk of developing cancer and is not a test for cancer. Therefore, it is not appropriate for general practitioners (GPs) or nurses to refer individuals with symptoms to the NHS Cervical Screening Programme.</p><p>Women with symptoms should consult their GP who can advise on further diagnostic testing. The Department funds research on health and social care through the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). The usual practice of NIHR is not to ring-fence funds for expenditure on particular topics. The NIHR welcomes funding applications for research into any aspect of human health including dementia.
