unstar this property answer text <p>The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is committed to ensuring that assaults against prison officers are dealt with robustly. The CPS considers each case on its own facts and in accordance with the two stage test set out in the Code for Crown Prosecutors.The Code outlines that a prosecution is more likely to be in the public interest if the offence was committed against a person serving the public. Furthermore, the specific CPS Legal Guidance on Prison Offences outlines that, if the victim is a prison officer performing his/her duty, the public interest is heavily in favour of prosecution.</p><p>In addition to this, the new joint protocol produced by the Prison Service, CPS and Association of Chief Police Officers will set out that when there are serious assaults on prison staff, the perpetrators will be prosecuted unless there is a good reason why not.</p> more like this

As a result, the Government has already taken action to prohibit this practice in certain sectors.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>We are currently consulting to understand the prevalence and impact of this practice economy wide. The consultation will strengthen the evidence we have on supplier lists, and will allow us to understand the necessary scope, and implications of further changes. unstar this property answer text <p>During the consultation period, both I and officials at the department met a variety of representatives from the parishes sector to discuss the Local Government Finance Settlement 2017-18 Technical Consultation. This included a meeting between the minister and representatives from the National Association of Local Councils (NALC), as well as several official-level meetings with representatives of the NALC, the Society of Local Council Clerks (SLCC) and a variety of larger parishes. The minister also spoke at the NALC’s annual conference via video link on 19 October, and an official spoke at the SLCC’s annual conference on 14 October.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>Ofcom is responsible for licensing community radio stations and has awarded over 270 licences to date.</p><p> </p><p>Ofcom conducts licensing in rounds and invites applicants from each region of the UK in turn. Ofcom has published timetables for the latest round of community radio licensing and anticipate inviting applications from the South East of England outside the M25 in the first half of 2015.</p><p> </p><p>For reasons of fairness, Ofcom assesses all the applications it receives in a region before awarding any licenses.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The Department takes a number of steps each year, with assistance from the Electoral Commission, to inform Service personnel of the arrangements for electoral registration. The annual information campaign encouraging Service personnel and their families to register to vote was launched on 1 February 2016, in conjunction with the National Voter Registration Drive. We will issue an updated, separate instruction for the EU Referendum and conduct further internal communications to once again encourage Service personnel to register to vote.</p><p> </p><p>Registration is a personal matter and personnel are free to choose whether and, how they register to vote.
