star this property answer text <p>On 15 January I chaired the first meeting of the Vehicle Theft Taskforce. The Taskforce brings together the automotive industry, insurers, the police, Government departments and others to help ensure that everything is being done to prevent vehicle theft. As part of its work, the Taskforce will review whether further measures are required to stop devices that may be used to commit vehicle theft falling into criminals’ hands.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Home Office does not centrally hold the information requested.</p><p>The Home Office collects and publishes data on the number of arrests for notifiable offences on a financial year basis. The Home Office collects and publishes these data at the offence group level, for example, ‘Theft offences’ or ‘Miscellaneous crimes against society’, broken down by Police Force Area. More detailed information on the arrest, including the specific offence for which the individual is arrested, are not collected.</p><p>Data on the number of arrests are published in the ‘Police Powers and Procedures, England and Wales’ statistical bulletin. The latest bulletin, covering the year to 31 March 2018, can be accessed here:</p><p><a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/police-powers-and-procedures-england-and-wales" target="_blank"> https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/police-powers-and-procedures-england-and-wales</a></p><p>The Home Office also collects data on crimes recorded by the police, including crimes for theft of a vehicle. star this property answer text <p>The Home Office collects and publishes statistics on the number of stop and searches conducted by each police force in England and Wales and the number of resultant arrests. These data are published in the ‘Police Powers and Procedures, England and Wales’ statistical bulletin, which can be accessed here:<br><a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/police-powers-and-procedures-england-and-wales" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/police-powers-and-procedures-england-and-wales</a></p><p>In 2017/18, Lancashire Police conducted 3,284 stop and searches in total.</p><p>The Home Office does not collect data on outcomes of prosecutions. Nor does the data collected by the Home Office on stop and searches allow for the stop and search to be tracked through the criminal justice system to the outcome of a prosecution.</p> more like this
