The Challenger 2 Life Extension Programme will provide a suite of capability upgrades and substantially extend its service life. The planned upgrade is currently undergoing an extended assessment phase, which is expected to conclude in 2020. However, information on the criteria and weightings used for individual contracts varies, is not held centrally and could only be provided at disproportionate cost.</p><p>On 14 March 2019, the Defence Secretary announced an ambitious Defence Prosperity Programme to grow defence's contribution to UK prosperity.
