	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/01/2019 answer text <p>2018 saw an 80 percent reduction, comapred to 2014 in the number of migrants crossing the central Mediterranean from North Africa to Italy – from 119,000 in 2017 to 23,000 in 2018, according to UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) figures. The number of fatalities on the central route has not reduced by the same rate. According to UNHCR the proportion of dead and missing compared to the number of arrivals doubled in 2018 to 5.6 percent from 2.4 percent in 2017. The largest proportion of migrants crossing the Mediterranean from North Africa during 2018 continued to be from Libya, although the proportion crossing from Tunisia increased during 2018. None of the levy costs are met by the public purse. The recovery of any tax arrears in an insolvency is a matter for the administrators and HMRC.</p><p> </p><p>The Department is not able to make estimates of the expected costs as a result of the SoLR process. The costs of an insolvency will depend on the circumstances of each case and variables such as the number of customers, the short term costs of ensuring they continue to be supplied with energy, the settlement of customer bills and the costs absorbed by the incoming supplier. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/03/2019 answer text <p>According to data from Ofcom[1], there are at least 200 schools in areas that cannot receive connection speeds of over 10Mbps, and 500[2] schools in areas that cannot receive connection speeds of over 30Mbps.</p><p>The Department recognises the importance of broadband infrastructure for schools. The Department is working with industry and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport to accelerate the full fibre internet connectivity rollout to all schools. In addition to this, the Department is supporting those schools most in need[3] that would not otherwise receive a timely upgrade through commercial routes. The Department has therefore identified hundreds of schools where connectivity will be accelerated by funding a new full fibre connection over the next two years, bringing schools, local communities and businesses onto an ultrafast, full fibre connection.</p><p>The Department will be publishing the Education Technology Strategy in the spring, which will include how schools are being supported to overcome the barrier of internet connectivity to harness the opportunities of technology.</p><p> </p><p>[1] <a href="https://www.ofcom.org.uk/research-and-data/multi-sector-research/infrastructure-research/connected-nations-2018" target="_blank">https://www.ofcom.org.uk/research-and-data/multi-sector-research/infrastructure-research/connected-nations-2018</a>. As at 31 March 2018, there were 6,459 armed officers in England and Wales.</p><p>Unarmed officers can also carry the device if they have completed special Taser training. However, the number of specially trained Taser officers is an operational matter for chief officers to determine based on their assessment of threat and risk. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/02/2019 answer text <p>Any form of intolerance or bullying, including antisemitism is unacceptable. Schools must promote our shared values, which includes mutual respect and tolerance for those with different faiths and beliefs. The department supports schools to implement this requirement through a range of resources, such as those included on the Educate Against Hate website, as well as by working with networks of experts on the ground who provide direct support to schools on this. Every state-funded school, maintained and academy, must also teach religious education to all pupils up to the age of 18.</p><p> </p><p>Schools must comply with the requirements of the Equality Act and must also have a behaviour policy which includes measures to prevent bullying. Recent research commissioned by the department details common strategies that schools have found to be effective for combating bullying.</p><p> </p><p>The department is funding a number of projects to help schools tackle bullying, including hate-related bullying. This includes funding the Anne Frank Trust to develop their ‘Free to Be’ debate programme, which encourages young people to think about the importance of tackling prejudice, discrimination and bullying. We also recently published the ‘Respectful Schools Communities’ toolkit; a self-review and signposting tool to support schools to develop a whole-school approach which promotes respect and discipline.</p><p>The department is fully committed to educating pupils about the Holocaust and is the only topic that is compulsory in the national curriculum for history. We fund the Centre for Holocaust at University College London to train trainee and serving teachers to teach this important subject and to set up a network of Beacon schools to share good practice. We also fund the Holocaust Education Trust’s ‘Lessons from Auschwitz’ programme, which enables teachers and sixth form students to visit Auschwitz.</p><p>Schools can also address intolerance and bullying as part of non-statutory personal, social, health and economic education. We are also making relationships education compulsory in all primary schools and relationships and sex education compulsory in all secondary schools. Extensive work to prepare for a no deal scenario has been underway for the last two years to ensure the country continues to operate as smoothly as possible from the day we leave.</p><p>The Government has well established ways of working with the food industry on food supply chain issues and we are using these to support preparations for leaving the EU. This includes working with Defra’s long established Food Chain Emergency Liaison Group (FCELG), which allows Government and industry to work together to plan for and respond to food supply disruption.
