star this property answer text <p>In the 12 months to 1st June 2017, the UK reported a trade surpluses of £175m in milk and cream, £30m in Cheddar cheese and £471m in Gin, and a trade deficit of £168m in fresh strawberries (Source: HMRC Overseas Trade Statistics <a href="https://www.uktradeinfo.com/Statistics/BuildYourOwnTables/Pages/Home.aspx" target="_blank">https://www.uktradeinfo.com/Statistics/BuildYourOwnTables/Pages/Home.aspx</a>).</p><p>The Harmonised Commodity Description and Coding System (HS) nomenclature, an internationally standardised system used to classify traded products, does not provide a unique code for cream. star this property answer text <p>Ministers constantly meet with businesses and representatives from across the UK, including the West Midlands, and will continue to do so.</p><p>The export of goods increased last quarter in the West Midlands by 17.8% compared to the same quarter the previous year, which was the second highest increase across all English regions. The count of exporters also rose by 3.4% to 11, 801 in the same period.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Following her appointment on 13 July 2016 the Prime Minister established the Department for International Trade (DIT). The DIT aggregates UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), UK Export and Finance (UKEF) and Trade Policy Units from the Department for Business, Energy &amp; Industrial Strategy (BEIS).</p><p>Until such time as a transfer of functions order establishes my Rt hon Friend the Secretary of State for International Trade as a corporation sole, DIT remains a unified Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and Department for Business, Energy &amp; Industrial Strategy (BEIS) department for accounting purposes. The transfer of functions order (No 2016/ 992) laid on 19 October 2016 will come into effect on 9 November 2016.</p><p>As DIT is currently being formed, details of the staff that the Department employs is being finalised, whilst employee transfers and recruitment are taking place.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government’s policy has always been to rigorously assess all licence applications on a case by case basis against the Consolidated EU and National Export Licensing Criteria. A licence would not be granted if to do so would be a breach of the Criteria, including if there was a clear risk that the items might be used in the commission of a serious violation of International Humanitarian Law.</p><p> </p><p>The framework for arms export licensing remains as set out in the Consolidated EU and National Arms Export Licensing Criteria, known as the Consolidated Criteria.</p> more like this

A licence will not be issued, to Saudi Arabia or any other destination, if to do so would be inconsistent with any provision of the Consolidated EU and National Arms Export Licensing Criteria. The position is kept under constant review as each licence application is considered carefully on a case-by-case basis but there are no plans to commission a further review of the export of UK arms to Saudi Arabia.</p> more like this
