The UK contribution to the current Fifth Replenishment of the Global Fund (2017-2019) is £1.2 billion. The Global Fund allocation to India over this period is $500million USD. This support includes funding for services directly benefiting LGBT people, including HIV counselling and support centres for transgender people. DFID has already contributed £4 million to assist 116,000 food insecure people via small cash grants delivered by the World Food Programme, a UN agency. DFID also added £1 million to its ongoing support to resilience building, enabling 43,500 people to benefit from agricultural and water-related assistance. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/04/2019 answer text <p>The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is the largest in the country’s history and the second largest on record. The UK continues to be one of the leading supporters of the response, providing both £33.9 million in funding so far and technical expertise to the WHO and others. Moreover, given the risk of Ebola spreading across borders remains significant, we are the leading donor for regional preparedness providing £14 million so far. Preventing the spread of the disease not only saves lives but also provides the stability necessary for economic growth and security.</p><p>With case numbers continuing to rise and the response not yet under control, and ongoing conflict in the region, it is as important as ever to maintain international momentum in tackling the outbreak. Research shows that restricting access to abortion services does not make abortions less common – it only serves to make them less safe, risking women’s and girls’ health and lives through dangerous, backstreet abortions. At least 8% of maternal deaths worldwide are caused by unsafe abortions. Millions more women and girls are left with injuries and disabilities as a result.</p><p> </p><p>The UK’s position is that safe abortion reduces recourse to unsafe abortion and thus saves lives, and that women and adolescent girls must have the right to make their own decisions about their sexual and reproductive health and well-being. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/04/2019 answer text <p>The UK is deeply concerned about the spread of anti-vaccine misinformation abroad and its potential to undermine the hard-fought gains that have been made in protecting children from vaccine preventable diseases and outbreaks. We are tackling this misinformation through our strong support of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. In both organisations, we work to ensure that they build trust and credibility with local communities as a core mandate.</p><p> </p><p>UK support of Gavi has contributed to the safe vaccination of over 700 million children and our support to GPEI has helped reduce global cases of Wild Polio Virus by 99%. These programmes recognise the threat anti-vaccination misinformation poses to these successes and have taken active steps to address anti-vaccination movements through immunisation outreach teams and civil society groups, the first line of defence to countering false claims and misinformation. These groups monitor anti-vaccine sentiment at local levels and provide accurate information on the health benefits of immunisation. This approach provides a deeper understanding of the causes of any concerns and the populations most at risk from negative misinformation. The UK is the largest donor to Gavi, which has helped 30 countries take the first steps to introducing the HPV vaccine with the aim of vaccinating 40 million girls by 2020. This will protect the poorest and most vulnerable girls from the leading cause of cervical cancer.</p><p>UK support for Gavi is also helping accelerate the introduction of the HPV vaccine to more countries through Gavi’s market shaping and price reduction strategy, which is making the vaccine more available and affordable.</p><p>Civil society and young girls play a key role in ensuring the vaccine is accepted and in high demand. We address this through support to the Livelihoods and Food Security Fund (LIFT), to which the UK has provided £187 million since 2010. DFID undertook a slavery assessment across Burma in 2018.
