	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/09/2017 answer text <p>In terms of infrastructure, we are currently working with Rail North and Network Rail to develop very significant improvements for rail passengers on the Transpennine route with phased introduction from December 2022. The upgrade aims to deliver major reductions in journey times, the ability to run more frequent and longer trains offering more seats on both long distance and local services and improvements to overall performance on the whole route. Huddersfield will be in the heart of our plans to improve access on the Transpennine route.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, the new Northern and Transpennine franchises which commenced in April 2016 will deliver an unprecedented package of improvements including more than 500 new carriages, room for 40,000 extra passengers and more than 2,000 extra services a week. By 2020 all the trains will be brand new or completely refurbished, and all the Pacer trains will be gone.</p><p> </p><p>Planned service improvements specifically for Huddersfield include: new trains, and longer trains, with more seats and of higher quality – including free Wi-Fi, at-seat power sockets and real-time passenger information; increased number of morning peak seats by more than 50% into Manchester and Leeds; more weekend services with some earlier starts and later finishes; an extension of North TransPennine services to Edinburgh; and increased number of direct services to Hull and Newcastle.</p> answering member constituency Blackpool North and Cleveleys answering member printed Paul Maynard question first answered 14/09/2017 10:21:12 answering member 3926 label Biography information for Paul Maynard

	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/09/2017 answer text <p>We take the issue of illegal trafficking of puppies very seriously.</p><p> </p><p>Responsibility for stopping the illegal movement of puppies begins in the country where they are born. When cases of illegal puppy movements under the Pet Travel Scheme are discovered, the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) working with Defra will raise instances of abuse of the scheme with the authorities in the relevant countries.</p><p> </p><p>Defra’s Chief Veterinary Officer has written to EU countries to raise concerns over illegal smuggling of puppies and animals and APHA has worked in partnership with the Dogs Trust at Dover where approx. 600 puppies have been seized and taken into quarantine since the initiative began.</p><p> </p><p>Defra also works closely with the Pet Advertising Advisory Group to drive up standards for online advertisements and make potential pet owners and website operators more aware of rogue dealers to reduce demand.</p><p> </p><p> </p> answering member constituency Camborne and Redruth answering member printed George Eustice grouped question UIN 7280 question first answered 15/09/2017 14:44:30 answering member 3934 label Biography information for George Eustice

This will draw on the views of Members, as well as a large-scale consultation exercise with staff. Emerging ideas will be discussed with the Commission in the new year, the intention is then to take the draft strategy to the new Commission in the 2015 Parliament for its agreement. I have noted the hon.
