Mandate plays an important part in facilitating the resettlement of refugees in
various locations across the world. There is no specific quota or target for the number
of people resettled via Mandate. The referral of cases (and the corresponding numbers
of arrivals) under Mandate is dependent on the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)
identifying cases which meet its criteria. This criteria can be found in the UNHCR
Resettlement Handbook under the UK’s country chapter available at http://www.unhcr.org/40ee6fc04.html
We publish a breakdown
of arrivals under our resettlement schemes as part of the Immigration Statistics Quarterly
Release, which was most recently updated on 30 November, however we do not publish
a disaggregation of those resettled to immediate or extended family members.
