In the main it is the claimant's responsibility to make the benefit authorities aware of changes pertaining to their benefit award.</p><p> </p><p>We do, however, recognise that changes to some benefits have consequential implications for others. As a safeguard, many of our systems trigger automated prompts. These help to ensure that DWP staff are alerted when a relevant change is processed in a connected benefit, so that further investigation can be initiated and appropriate adjustments made.</p><p> </p><p>In the case of deaths DWP operates a Tell Us Once service for the public sector. Recognising the uniquely sensitive circumstances and wide governmental relevance, Tell Us Once shares death information across a range of government partners. Since 1 January 2014, most jobseekers must also have been living in the UK for three months before any consideration can be given to whether they are habitually resident to be eligible to receive income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance.</p><p>Regulations were amended from 9 November 2014 to exempt from the three month residence requirement members of the Armed Forces and Crown servants who were serving abroad and others who had paid certain types of UK national insurance contributions at some point during their absence abroad. The first Government review of State Pension age is underway and must report by May 2017.</p><p> </p><p>The review will be informed by an independent report by John Cridland, which will comment on factors that the Secretary of State should take account of in the review.
