	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/06/2015 answer text <p /> <p>The Access to Work Mental Health Support Service can offer support to individuals with a mental health condition who are absent from work or finding work difficult.</p><p> </p><p>The service supports those experiencing depression, anxiety, stress or other mental health issues that are affecting their work.</p><p> </p><p>The service was established in December 2011 and is delivered by Remploy Employment Services.</p><p> </p><p>Fit for Work provides both a supportive occupational health assessment and general health and work advice to employees, employers and General Practitioners (GPs), to help individuals stay in or return to work.</p><p> </p><p>We have also allocated over £43 million in the next three years to pilot services which support people with common mental health conditions to get into, and stay in, work. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/03/2018 answer text <p><strong> </strong></p><p>Any claimant who is required to attend an Employment and Support Allowance or Personal Independent Payment assessment will be reimbursed for any reasonable travel costs associated with attending the assessment. The Department and its assessment providers do not pay travel costs in advance and we have no plans to change the current policy which is consistent with other areas of Government such as the NHS Healthcare Travel Costs Scheme.</p><p> </p><p>All claimants who are required to attend an assessment are advised in their appointment letter to contact the relevant provider if they have any difficulty in attending the assessment. Where such situations arise, the Department expects the assessment providers to explore all possible options to ensure that an assessment can be conducted. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/02/2023 answer text <p>Access to Work has received a significant increase in applications over the last year, and we have recruited new staff to meet the increased demand and reduce the time it takes to make decisions.</p><p> </p><p>Customers making new applications where they are starting work within the next 4 weeks, or have a grant coming to an end that requires renewal, are prioritised to ensure customers are able to enter and remain in the labour market. The department is working hard to reduce the wait times for all disabled people, with all processes being kept under review, including in the context of the recommendations from the Royal National Institute of Blind People report.</p><p> </p><p>The Royal National Institute of Blind People report included recommendations such as whether the DWP could reintroduce some of the easements that were in place during the COVID-19 pandemic. They are subject to a rigorous recruitment process followed by a comprehensive training programme in disability assessment. The assessment is not a medical assessment requiring the Healthcare Professional to diagnose a condition and recommend treatment options. The focus is on ensuring Healthcare Professionals are experts in disability analysis, drawing on evidence supplied by the claimant and their GP or specialist clinical team, with knowledge of the likely functional effects of a wide range of health conditions.</p><p> </p><p>While preparing to undertake an assessment, Healthcare Professionals can access a wide range of clinical resources to research any conditions presented.
