star this property answer text <p>Legislation introduced in 2007 made it illegal to smoke in all public enclosed or substantially enclosed areas and workplaces. There are no current plans to introduce further smoke free legislation to outdoor places.</p><p> </p><p>Local authorities can however, consider adopting more extensive no smoking policies locally. Local authorities are best placed to do this working with its local population to develop flexible plans that suit the local area.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Technical standards for noise from new motorcycles are set at an International level by both the European Union (EU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). These provisions were updated in 2014 and took effect for new machines from 2016.</p><p> </p><p>The European Commission is planning to introduce new legislation concerning emissions and noise from motorcycles. An independent research-based investigation is currently underway to establish the noise limits and these are expected to take effect in 2020. The UK is actively engaged in these negotiations.</p><p> </p><p>The motorcycle industry are represented at the UNECE discussions and Department for Transport officials also hold routine discussions with them outside of this forum.</p> more like this

Rather, the letters issued were only a statement of fact at a particular point in time that the individuals concerned were not sought for arrest.</p><p>As the Noble Lord may be aware the Report by Lady Justice Hallett into the “On the Runs” administrative scheme will be published by the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland on 17 July 2014.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) is comprised of economists and migration experts who serve as a chair and committee members. They are appointed to support the remit of the Committee, which is to provide independent and evidence-based advice to the Government on migration issues. Professor Sir David Metcalf is the Chair and is supported by 4 members; Dr Martin Ruhs, Professor Jonathan Wadsworth, Dr Jennifer Smith and Professor Jackline Wahba.</p><p>Lesley Giles of the UK Commission for Employment and Skills and John Thompson, the Director of Immigration Policy in the Home Office, also sit on the Committee as ex-officio members. <br><br>The Chair and Committee members are public appointments made in line with guidance issued by the Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments. The current criteria for membership are:<br><br>Essential criteria<br><br>* Expertise in economics, preferably labour markets. <br>* Quantitative analytical skills.<br>* Strong written skills – experience of producing evidence based reports.<br>* Building effective working relationships with a wide range of groups. <br><br>Desirable criteria<br><br>* Ability to work as part of a team.<br>* Knowledge of non-UK migration data and policies.<br><br>There are no plans to change or review the remit or the criteria for <br>appointment to the MAC.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>
