	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/07/2017 answer text <p>We believe that all children and young people with special educational needs (SEN) should be supported in schools, so they achieve well in their early years, at school and in college.</p><p>The Government does not prescribe the content of initial teacher training (ITT) courses. It is for ITT providers to use their professional judgement to determine the content and structure of courses, but they must be designed so that teacher trainees can demonstrate that they meet all of the Teachers' Standards at the appropriate level.</p><p>The Standards set out the key elements of effective teaching and the minimum expectations for the professional practice and conduct of teachers. In order to be awarded Qualified Teacher Status, trainees must satisfy the Teachers’ Standards which include a requirement that they have a clear understanding of the needs of all pupils, including those with special educational needs (SEN) and are able to use and evaluate distinctive teaching approaches to engage and support them. ‘A Framework of core content for Initial Teacher Training’, published in July 2016 states that providers should ensure special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) training is integrated across the ITT programme. As an apprentice is paid by their employer, they cannot access the student support package, which includes the Disabled Students Allowance.</p><p>Apprentices with disabilities can apply for Access to Work funding for adjustments to the workplace. Training providers can use this to support the apprentice’s learning. Adjustments will depend on the individual and the qualification, but may include extra time, assistive technology, use of a scribe etc.</p><p>Under the Equality Act (2010), employers and training providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments for their employees and students. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/03/2024 answer text <p>There is no NHS England national target set for when all services will be accredited, as the process for achieving accreditation for an individual service can take a number of years. NHS England recognises the United Kingdom Accreditation Service’s (UKAS) Improving Quality in Physiological Services (IQIPS) scheme as the only recognised accreditation standard for physiological science services. This includes audiology services and provides not only independent and impartial assurance of safe, high-quality services, but also the evidence needed for the Care Quality Commission’s regulatory purposes. In August 2023, NHS England recommended that all integrated care boards ensure that provider organisations work towards the UKAS IQIPS accreditation for paediatric audiology.</p><p>NHS England has worked with the UKAS to implement an updated process to support the early assessment of an individual site's readiness for achieving accreditation. NHS England is also working alongside the UKAS to support and enable more sites to successfully achieve accreditation. The 2024/25 National Health Service standard contract now includes the recommendation that all providers of paediatric audiology should work with their local commissioners to develop a Service Development Improvement Plan that will address the areas of quality concern, to allow all paediatric audiology services to move towards UKAS accreditation against the IQIPS standard.</p> answering member printed Lord Markham question first answered 06/03/2024 12:51:51 answering member 4948 label Biography information for Lord Markham
