	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/07/2015 answer text <p>The Home Secretary has established and chairs a National Oversight Group to monitor and drive delivery against the recommendations of HMIC’s report into domestic abuse published in March 2014. As part of the Group's work, the College of Policing, in partnership with voluntary sector organisations, has developed a rigorous training package, which has been piloted in Hertfordshire police with up to 1,000 officers trained.</p><p>The Home Office is working with the College and police forces to support the wider roll-out of training across forces, including new components on coercive control. We are also working with the National Policing Lead and the College to ensure best practice from force training packages on coercive control is fed into the development of national training packages and guidance as appropriate.</p><p>We are committed to implementing the new offence of domestic abuse as soon as possible. We have always been clear that implementation must be supported by proper training and guidance for frontline agencies. We are working with the College of Policing and Crown Prosecution Service to ensure these agencies are confident they know how to use the new offence to provide the best possible protection to victims. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/03/2018 answer text <p>The Home Secretary chairs a national oversight group that is driving a culture change in the police response by ensuring that the recommendations from the Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire &amp; Rescue Services (HMICFRS) reviews into domestic abuse are acted upon. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/10/2017 answer text <p>The Government signed the Istanbul Convention to signal the UK’s strong commitment to tackling violence against women and girls (VAWG). This Government remains fully committed to ratifying, once the UK is fully compliant with the Convention.</p><p> </p><p>Since signing the Convention in 2012, we have continued to step up our efforts to combat VAWG; we have strengthened the law; introduced new protective tools; and issued a range of guidance and support for frontline professionals.</p><p> </p><p>In most respects the UK already complies with, or goes further than the Convention requires. However there remains one outstanding issue in relation to extra-territorial jurisdiction (ETJ) which needs to be addressed and this requires primary legislation. We will introduce the ETJ measures necessary for compliance in England and Wales as part of the Domestic Abuse Bill and we are engaging with the Devolved Administrations on the measures necessary to ensure compliance in Scotland and Northern Ireland.</p><p> </p><p>This Government supported <em>The Preventing and Combating Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence (Ratification of Convention) Act 2017, which </em>requires the Secretary of State to lay a report before Parliament on the measures being taken to enable the UK to ratify the Istanbul Convention.</p><p>The Government will be publishing this report by 1 November 2017, as required by the Act.</p> answering member constituency Truro and Falmouth answering member printed Sarah Newton question first answered 16/10/2017 15:24:03 answering member 4071 label Biography information for Sarah Newton

In the case of fire, it is the responsibility of individual fire and rescue authorities to ensure that continuous training is in place to maintain professional competency and to meet operational requirements including responding to major events such as the Grenfell Tower fire.</p><p>The Government is funding the Joint Emergency Interoperability Service Programme (JESIP). Part of its work has included the largest and most successful joint training initiative across the emergency services. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/03/2018 answer text <p>The Government is fully committed to tackling serial perpetrators of domestic abuse.</p><p>We will be seeking views on what more can be done to manage serial perpetrators through our forthcoming consultation on domestic abuse.</p><p>The current framework ensures that those convicted of domestic abuse related offences are already captured on the Police National Computer. Where appropriate, they will also be captured on other systems such as on the dangerous persons’ database (ViSOR) and managed by police and probation under Multi-agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA).
