In considering how best to deliver this statutory duty, each local authority is responsible for determining, through consultation, the local needs to deliver a modern and efficient library service that meets the requirements of their communities within available resources.</p><p> </p><p>Somerset County Council (SCC) is currently consulting on how their future library services could be delivered. A decision will be made by the Council on changes to the services when consultation feedback has been analysed. EU funding works in 7 year cycles, and this statistic includes all data from the previous ERDF funding cycle (2007-2013) and as much of the current funding cycle as possible. I have provided the breakdown by region for this period of time. It is not possible to disaggregate the proportion of this funding that is invested just in galleries. As culture is devolved, there is also no estimate of UK-wide funding. As part of the usual business of Government, officials regularly review and consider international comparisons in the development of museums policy. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/02/2018 answer text <p>The recent Mendoza Review: an independent review of museums in England found that over the last ten years public funding to museums and galleries in England has totalled over £8.4 billion, including £912m from the Heritage Lottery Fund. While the fall in lottery receipts will necessitate a reduction in the amount of funds distributed, the Heritage Lottery Fund will still support a broad range of heritage across the UK, including museums and galleries. Investment at a local level has been protected as far as possible to maximise the coverage, spread and number of grants. VisitBritain receive grant-in-aid totalling £19.4m from DCMS and VisitEngland receive £7m. They also receive £22.8m of GREAT funding to support promotion activities. For every £1 the Government has invested in VisitBritain for international marketing, an overseas visitor spends £20 in Britain.</p><p>Additionally, in 2017 VisitBritain participated in travel trade missions across the world such as Destination Britain: China, the World Travel Market, World Routes and Destination Britain: North America.
