The FCO has extended three of those contracts since 1 April 2017. All of this funding is Official Development Assistance. The extended programmes will be retendered later this year. This includes training for the Nigerian armed forces, supporting Nigerian intelligence analysis, and £5 million to support the Multinational Joint Task Force, the regional military force tackling Boko Haram. We have also increased counter-terrorism cooperation, providing training on response to terrorist attacks and bomb scene management. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/09/2017 answer text <p>The Government works with Nigerian law enforcement agencies involved in investigating and prosecuting the perpetrators of modern slavery. This includes building relationships and providing training and equipment. In July 2016 the Prime Minister announced a £33.5 million fund to tackle modern slavery, of which £5 million has been allocated to Nigeria. It will be used to improve the effectiveness of law enforcement agencies, raise awareness amongst would-be victims and perpetrators of the consequences of modern slavery and the penalties for involvement, and to help safeguard victims and witnesses through comprehensive support packages. During their visit to Nigeria, the Foreign Secretary and the International Development Secretary announced a further £7 million of support over the next three years. This will be used to help develop alternative livelihoods options for communities in areas where trafficking occurs, and to help victims of trafficking recover and reintegrate into their communities. Our High Commission in Nigeria works closely with our EU partners on this agenda including through sharing expertise on returns arrangements. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/06/2019 answer text <p>The UK continues to engage with a range of opposition, members of the protest movement as well as the Transitional Military Council (TMC). The UK, alongside Troika partners Norway and the US, has called for all sides to engage in an inclusive dialogue that leads to a swift, orderly and peaceful transition to civilian rule. On 29 May our Ambassador delivered this message to Yassir Arman of Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) and encouraged all armed movements to return to Sudan and take part in the talks to agree a civilian-led transition and achieve peace. We have condemned the way that the opposition leaders have since been treated by the TMC since they returned.</p><p>On 4 June in a joint Troika statement, we condemned the recent violent attacks by Sudanese security forces against peaceful protestors in Sudan which left many civilians dead or injured. We also expressed serious concern over TMC's announcement that it would cease negotiations and called for an agreed transfer of power to a civilian-led government. Our Embassy in Khartoum calls on members of the Transitional Military Council both in public and directly the steps that needed to be taken to improve the situation in Sudan, including the release of all political detainees.</p><p>On 6 June, I summoned the Sudanese Ambassador to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to express our grave concerns at the use of violence against civilians by the Sudanese authorities. The UK has called for the human rights of all Sudanese people to be respected, the resumption of the political process leading to an agreed peaceful transfer of power to a civilian-led government, as demanded by the Sudanese people. The Foreign Secretary reiterated this in his statement on 6 June, which also called for the full restoration of the internet and freedom of the media. The UK has called for the human rights of all Sudanese people to be respected and for the resumption of the political process with the protestors and the opposition, and an agreed transfer of power to a civilian-led government, as demanded by the Sudanese people, in a swift, orderly and peaceful manner. On 6 June, I summoned the Sudanese Ambassador to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to express the grave concerns of the United Kingdom at the use of violence against civilians by the Sudanese authorities. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/11/2018 answer text <p>We regularly raise issues concerning freedom of religion with the Government of Afghanistan, underlining, the need to protect the rights of all ethnic and religious groups in line with the constitution of Afghanistan.</p><p>We are concerned about the high number of civilian casualties and displaced persons that have resulted from the recent violence in Ghazni and Uruzgan. We urge that all parties to the conflict respect International Humanitarian Law, protecting the civilian population and facilitating the provision of assistance by neutral and impartial humanitarian agencies. We assess that the Afghan National Defence and Security Forces (ANDSF) are now working to stabilise the security situation in both provinces. We understand that those who have been displaced are receiving assistance from local authorities.</p><p>We continue to monitor the impact that fighting may have had on tensions between different communities. The UK has been at the forefront of the humanitarian response to the Yemeni crisis and addressing this is a priority for the Government. The Foreign Secretary discussed humanitarian issues with King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia on 12 November.
