The Coalition Government's approach to tackling domestic violence and <br>abuse is set out in its Violence against Women and Girls Action Plan, updated in March <br>2014.<br><br>In 2013, the Home Secretary commissioned Her Majesty's Inspectorate of <br>Constabulary to undertake a comprehensive review on how the police deal with<br>domestic violence and abuse. HMIC's report exposed significant failings. In response<br>to the Review, the Home Secretary has established a National Oversight Group, which <br>she is chairing, and on which I sit, to ensure HMIC's recommendations are acted upon.<br>The Group met for the first time on 10 June. The Home Secretary has also written to chief constables making it clear that every police force must have an action plan in place by September 2014, to improve their response to domestic violence and abuse.<br><br>The Government is committed to ensuring that the police and other agencies have <br>the tools necessary to tackle domestic violence, to bring offenders to justice <br>and to ensure victims have the support they need to rebuild their lives. Many parents still find that the high cost and inflexibility of childcare is a barrier to working, or increasing their working hours. The Government wants more schools to make their facilities available to the local community. The Department for Education believes that if schools open up their facilities, it can make them a valuable resource and can strengthen links with the wider community that they serve. The Department wants to encourage more schools to offer childcare between 8am to 6pm during term time and during school holidays by removing all unnecessary red tape and increasing freedoms. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/03/2014 answer text <p> </p><p>According to figures published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) on 7<sup>th</sup> January 2014, 2842 new buses were registered in the UK in 2013, along with 843 coaches. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Although we do not hold specific data from each bus operator on the number or percentage of new buses using audio/visual systems outside London, we are currently examining whether this information can be gathered as part of the Department's next annual bus operator survey, due to be published in the Autumn.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Research commissioned by the Department for Transport estimates that in 2012 there were 8877 buses operating in England that offered audio announcements on the destination of the bus and the next stop, compared to 8812 buses in 2011. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/05/2014 answer text <p>We remain extremely concerned by the ongoing situation in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) especially regarding the nuclear threat and human rights.</p><p>The Foreign and Commonwealth Office's 2013 annual human rights report listed the DPRK as a country of concern. Compelling reports of widespread and systematic human rights violations, including the curtailment of fundamental freedoms and the continued use of political prison camps, are especially worrying. I met the US Special Envoy for DPRK Human Rights, Robert King, on 6 May to discuss how we can maintain international pressure on this.</p><p>The security situation remains deeply troubling. Recent statements implying that the DPRK is considering a further nuclear test, coupled with the DPRK's March decision to launch ballistic missiles in clear breach of UN Security Council Resolutions and to conduct live-fire artillery exercises, have only served to heighten tensions in the region. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/05/2014 answer text <p>The Government offers a wide range of support to all types of businesses to start up and grow, including franchises, for example through the Growth Accelerator, the New Enterprise Allowance, mentoring and the Start Up Loan scheme.</p><p> </p><p>Women-led small and medium-sized businesses contribute around £82 billion to the economy. 42% of the 15,000 mentors trained through the Get Mentoring initiative are women and have contributed to the 27,000 strong mentoring network at <a href="http://www.mentorsme.co.uk/" target="_blank">www.mentorsme.co.uk</a>.
