	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/02/2023 answer text <p>The Government is committed to tackling the ruthless criminal gangs who facilitate illegal immigration, risk lives and damage communities by smuggling people, firearms and drugs into the UK.</p><p>We are working to end small boat crossings and disrupt the organised crime groups behind this activity. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/09/2023 answer text <p>This Government is clear that targeting, grooming and the exploitation of children who are often the most vulnerable in our society is deplorable and is committed to tackling it. The Modern Slavery Act 2015 gives law enforcement agencies the tools to tackle modern slavery, including potential maximum sentences of life imprisonment for perpetrators and specific support and protection for victims, including children. £17.8 million of dedicated funding has been provided to the police since 2016, helping to improve the police’s ability to identify victims and to investigate and prosecute the perpetrators and we are investing up to £145 million over three years to tackle drugs supply and county lines activity. The Prevention Programme in England and Wales also delivers tailored interventions, based on police intelligence, to improve multi-agency collaboration in prevention of all exploitation types and help identify hot spot locations, priority areas and specific threats in each region.</p><p> </p><p>The identification of a child who is a potential victim of modern slavery, or is at risk of being a victim, should always trigger the agreed local child protection procedures to ensure the child’s safety and welfare, and to enable the police to gather evidence about abusers and coercers. The situation is very complex and presents significant challenges, including how those who are eligible for resettlement in the UK can leave Afghanistan. This includes the eligible family members of those being resettled under the ACRS. For those evacuated from Afghanistan under the ACRS without their immediate family members, further information will be made available in due course about options for reuniting with them.</p><p>In line with our existing policy, those resettled under the ACRS may be able to be accompanied by their immediate family members (their spouse or partner, and dependent children under 18).</p><p>Those referred by UNHCR under the ACRS will have refugee status and will therefore be able to access the refugee family reunion route.</p><p>Those without refugee status wishing to bring family members would need to apply through the regular family visa route under Appendix FM of the Immigration Rules.</p><p>Whilst the UK has made a generous resettlement commitment, we must bear in mind the capacity of the UK to resettle people is not unlimited and therefore difficult decisions about who will be prioritised for resettlement have to be made.</p> answering member constituency Newark answering member printed Robert Jenrick question first answered 24/02/2023 14:49:11 answering member 4320 label Biography information for Robert Jenrick

Decisions will be taken on a case-by-case basis and nobody will be removed if it is unsafe for them.</p><p>We will thoroughly consider the circumstances of cases involving families with children according to our policy, statutory and international obligations. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/07/2023 answer text <p>As set out in the Home Office’s Inadmissibility guidance, an asylum claimant may be eligible for removal to Rwanda if their claim is inadmissible under this policy and (a) that claimant’s journey to the UK can be described as having been dangerous and (b) was made on or after 1 January 2022. A dangerous journey is one able or likely to cause harm or injury. This would therefore not include those who have arrived in the UK through safe and legal routes of entry.</p><p>A case-by-case assessment will take place for every individual considered for relocation. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/07/2023 answer text <p>While we are disappointed with the Court of Appeal’s ruling in relation to deficiencies in Rwanda’s asylum system that risk returning people inappropriately when they have a need for protection, we have been granted permission to appeal this judgement to the Supreme Court.</p><p>We continue to bring forward alternative accommodation options to reduce hotel use. These include:</p><ul><li>Restricting the sale of small volumes of wet wood (less than 2m<sup>3</sup>) - wood sold in small volumes must have a moisture content of 20% or less, and</li><li>Making it easier for local authorities to enforce smoke control area rules by replacing the criminal offence for smoke emissions with a civil penalty regime.</li></ul><p>The Environment Improvement Plan (EIP) sets out further measures to reduce emissions from wood burning. These include:</p><ul><li>Publishing outdoor burning best practice guidance.</li><li>Extending the solid fuels legislation, including to fuels burned outside.</li><li>Tightening the limits that new stoves in Smoke Control Areas must meet.</li><li>Driving a shift away from older, more polluting appliances to newer appliances which meet our tough new emission standards.</li><li>Continuing our targeted communications campaign to promote best practice when burning.</li></ul><p> </p><p>As set out in our recent Air Quality Strategy, we also continue to work with local authorities to help them tackle emissions from domestic combustion in their communities. In England, regulations introduced in 2020 put restrictions on the sale of wet wood for domestic burning, placed limits on the emission of sulphur and smoke from manufactured solid fuels and phased out the sale of bituminous coal (traditional house coal). Through the Environment Act 2021, we also introduced measures to streamline the enforcement of Smoke Control Areas (SCAs).</p><p /><p>Since 1 January 2022 all stoves placed on the market in the United Kingdom must be Ecodesign compliant. This is in addition to the separate requirement in Smoke Control Areas (SCAs) that householders can only burn approved fuels or use a Defra exempt appliance.</p><p /><p>The Environment Improvement Plan sets out further measures to reduce domestic combustion emissions.
