star this property answer text <p><ins class="ministerial">There were 53,253 probate cases in the Open Caseload<sup>1</sup> as at 31 December. Of those 30,656 were more than 6 weeks old<sup>1</sup>. Of the cases over six weeks old 13,536 were stopped, 7,247 were awaiting documentation and 9,873 were ready to progress.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial"><sup>1 </sup>Data as at 31 December in line the official published stats. The administration of probate applications is dealt with as a national service, covering England and Wales. The open caseload excludes cases older than 6 months.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial"><sup>2</sup>The time outstanding is counted from the application submission date recorded in the case management system, except for digital applications with a Will, where the date of receipt of the original Will by HMCTS is used.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">This data is management Information. The management information presented in this table reflects what is recorded on relevant case-management systems on the date of extraction. The case management systems are continually updated and so the information presented will differ from previously published information. Management information can differ from the quality assured MOJ official statistics, which form the agreed definitive position. Although care is taken when processing and analysing the data, the details are subject to inaccuracies inherent in any large-scale case management system and is the best data that is available.</ins></p><p><del class="ministerial">The total amount of unassessed probate cases where evidence has been received to enable a case to be assessed is 12,923.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">4805 of these cases are over 6 weeks since the date the evidence was received.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">In addition, there are 38,245 cases which are either waiting for evidence, such as the original will, to arrive, are subject to a legal hold following an application from another party or have been stopped due to an error or missing documentation and are waiting for a response from the applicant.</del></p><p>HMCTS has increased resources to meet the higher demand following an increased number of estates requiring probate and is further increasing resourcing to further bring down overall timeliness on digital and paper applications.</p><p>The improvement of the online probate system remains a priority for HMCTS, to ensure more applications can be issued first time and resources can be focused on reducing waiting times.</p>

Across the UK an estimated 3,250 ZEBs have been funded so far.</p><p> </p><p>Between financial years 2018-19 to 2022-23 the Department for Transport has provided funding for 2,594 zero emission buses. star this property answer text <p><del class="ministerial">The Government’s Joint Fraud Taskforce (a coalition between government, industry, law enforcement and the third sector) continues to lead an ambitious programme of work to design out and prevent fraud that occurs both online and offline. This includes the<em>Take Five</em> fraud awareness campaign, designed to urge the public and businesses to take time to consider whether a situation they find themselves in is genuine.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">Online personal scams are increasingly perpetrated via cyber-enabled methods. To protect victims, the Government set up the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) in October 2016. The NCSC is the UK’s technical authority on cyber security and provides a single, central body for cyber security at a national level. The NCSC works very closely with law enforcement agencies and the intelligence community to help prevent, disrupt and investigate cyber-crime and other online cyber related threats. In 2018 the NCSC took down 22,133 phishing campaigns, including 14,124 UK government-related phishing sites, and the total number of takedowns of fraudulent websites was 192,256, across 2018, with 64% of them down in 24 hours.</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The City of London Police undertake a national lead force role for the investigation of serious and complex fraud cases. The Home Office remains committed to improving the law enforcement response to fraud. That is why we requested that Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS) conduct a thematic inspection on fraud, including Action Fraud, and set out measures for improving the response to fraud in our Economic Crime Plan, which was published in July. The City of London Police (as the National Lead Force for fraud) is currently implementing recommendations within HMICFRS’ inspection report, which was published on 2<sup>nd</sup> April.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The scale and complexity of the threat from serious and organised crime means that we need to do more to develop our response. The Government therefore recently announced a formal review to identify the powers, capabilities, governance and funding needed in response to this threat.</ins></p>

star this property answer text <p><del class="ministerial">Government’s strategy ‘Sporting Future: A New Strategy for An Active Nation’ and Sport England’s strategy ‘Towards an Active Nation’ highlight the importance of focusing on groups that are particularly unlikely to take part in sport and physical activity, such as women and girls and some Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) groups. It places a clear emphasis on putting the customer first and there are some innovative programmes to encourage female and BAME participation in sport, such as the This Girl Can Swim campaign.</del></p><p> </p><p><del class="ministerial">But as the Government’s sport strategy makes clear, participation is not just about playing sport, and the &quot;Sports Governance Code&quot;, launched in October 2016, seeks to ensure the very highest standards of governance across all sport bodies that receive public money, including in terms of diversity, and aims to help the sport sector to be more inclusive and welcoming to all. If sports bodies do not adhere to the code and cannot demonstrate full commitment to becoming compliant with its requirements they will not be eligible to receive public funding</del>.</p><p> </p><ins class="ministerial">Through its London 2012 legacy programme, Places People Play, Sport England invested a total of £2,225,541 in 13 grassroots sports projects in the Metropolitan Borough of Sandwell. This included an investment of £1.5m of National Lottery money in the Portway Lifestyle Centre in Sandwell which opened in 2013. Portway Lifestyle Centre is an excellent example of a community wellness hub, and one of the first in the UK to bring social care, health and leisure services together under one roof, combining an NHS family practice with a range of health, social care and sports facilities.</ins> <ins class="ministerial">Birmingham has bid for the Commonwealth Games in 2022 and, should the bid be successful, the Sandwell Aquatics Centre would be upgraded to include an iconic diving venue and community facility. This would provide a legacy for the local community, catering for everyone from beginner swimmers through to elite divers, with the provision of much needed facilities within the Black Country and West Midlands.</ins>

star this property answer text <p>Under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, it is already against the law to keep primates in the same sort of environment you would keep a domesticated pet animal. In addition, the statutory Code of Practice for the Welfare of Privately Kept Non-human Primates provides keepers with advice on how to meet the welfare needs of their animals, as required under the 2006 Act.</p><p> </p><p>Defra is working closely with the Pet Advertising Advisory Group to apply minimum standards to online pet advertising on five of the main websites. The standards include a requirement to remove any adverts for primates.</p><p>In the meantime, if anyone has any concerns about the welfare of a particular primate they should report it to the relevant local authority who have powers to investigate such matters, or to the RSPCA who can also investigate.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Protection against measles is provided in the combination measles, mumps and rubella vaccine (MMR).</p><p>The latest <del class="ministerial">England</del> vaccine coverage figures <ins class="ministerial">for the United Kingdom</ins> (January to March 2017) show that uptake of one dose of MMR vaccine at two years was 91.7% and at five years was 95.4%, exceeding the World Health Organisation’s elimination target. Uptake of two MMR doses at five years was 88.1%.</p><p> </p><p>In November 2016, a measles and rubella elimination strategy group was established to oversee the development of a United Kingdom-wide Measles and Rubella elimination strategy. This strategy will focus on sustaining very high coverage of MMR in children below five years of age and on providing opportunities for MMR catch-up to older population groups at risk for measles and/or rubella. Public Health England (PHE) continues to work with others to supply information for health professionals and the public on the benefits and risks associated with MMR.</p><p> </p><p>PHE and NHS England work closely with providers at a local level to target specific communities where uptake of the MMR vaccine is known to be poor.</p>

star this property answer text <p>The Speaker’s Committee meets IPSA throughout the year to assess its performance, running costs and effectiveness in handling MPs’ expenses. The Committee last met IPSA on 5 March 2024 and a transcript of that session is available on the Committee’s website: <a href="https://committees.parliament.uk/oralevidence/14403/pdf/" target="_blank">https://committees.parliament.uk/oralevidence/14403/pdf/</a></p><p>In 2023, 65.3 per cent of MPs and their staff rated IPSA’s service as either good or very good, which was up on this measure in 2019 when 25.1 per cent rated the service in that way. The time taken for IPSA to reimburse MPs’ claims has reduced from an average of 8 days in 2020-21 to 2.6 days in 2023-24. Compliance with IPSA’s scheme is currently at 99.9%.</p><p>Through its scrutiny of IPSA, the Committee is looking at the steps being taken by IPSA to help improve its effectiveness in enabling MPs and their staff to claim for expenses and business costs. IPSA’s ongoing work includes:</p><ul><li>the development of an IPSA online portal to enhance the customer experience by improving the functionality of the system in areas such as claim and form submission;</li><li>the greater provision of centralised services, reducing the financial and administrative burden on MPs and their staff through the centralised provision of goods and services such as constituency office leases, utilities, and equipment;</li><li>the piloting of an online marketplace, allowing MPs and their staff to purchase goods such as office equipment centrally; and</li><li>exploration of alternative models of reimbursement, enabling MPs and their staff to pay for business costs without the need to claim retrospectively.</li></ul><p>The Committee plans to consider IPSA’s Annual Report and Accounts for 2023-24 later in the summer at which point it will assess IPSA’s latest results against its performance indicators.</p>

star this property answer text <p>Lessons learnt from the Single Living Accommodation Modernisation project include that it provided value for money through standardisation of design, and economies of scale through a managed pipeline of projects.</p><p> </p><p>The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) is continuing to realise these benefits through our Single Living Accommodation Programmatic Approach.</p><p>Standard designs have been developed in consultation with the front-line commands and industry partners.</p><p> </p><p>Design layouts have been amended to provide better functional spaces in bedrooms and common areas.</p><p> </p><p>The design of building fabric and services has been improved to achieve through life Net Zero Carbon requirements.</p> more like this
