This shows that, in July 2017, 8,400 new claims to UC Full Service received either a New Claim or Benefit Transfer Advance. Greater Manchester Combined Authority and Transport for Greater Manchester are advancing their wider plans for connectivity across the city region through their Greater Manchester 2040 Transport Strategy.</p><p> </p><p>The government has committed £300m to future-proof HS2 to support Transport for the North’s ambition for Northern Powerhouse Rail (NPR) between the North’s largest cities. Transport for the North are currently developing the business case for NPR, which includes investigating serving other significant economic centres.</p><p> </p>

unstar this property answer text <p>The 2015 Spending Review reconfirmed the Government’s commitment to the programme providing a long-term funding envelope of £55.7bn in 2015 prices. Of this £28.55bn was allocated to Phase Two. This allocation includes funding for infrastructure for the Northern and Midlands sections of High Speed 2. unstar this property answer text <p>The HS2 scheme itself will already be positive for the North, delivering capacity, connectivity and economic growth benefits. In addition, in October the Chancellor announced £300m to ensure that HS2 infrastructure can accommodate future Northern Powerhouse Rail (NPR) and Midlands Connect services. This includes connections:</p><p> </p><ul><li>in the Leeds area, enabling trains from for example Sheffield and the Midlands to travel via Leeds and on to York and the North East;</li><li>to the HS2 Western Leg line to connect Liverpool to Manchester Airport and Manchester Piccadilly stations;</li><li>in the Manchester area to enable NPR services from Liverpool to continue from Manchester Piccadilly station east towards for example Leeds; and</li><li>to enable services from East Midlands to the North to travel via HS2, for example between Leicester and Leeds.</li></ul><p>These uses of HS2 infrastructure could be reflected in the Phase 2b hybrid bill if practical and affordable propositions can be developed that deliver value for money for the taxpayer whilst ensuring significant benefits for passengers.</p><p> </p>
