Despite accounting for just under half of all employees in the UK, women are more likely to be in low paid work than men.</p><p>The Government has an aspiration to end low pay, and next year it will set out the Low Pay Commission’s remit from 2020 onwards.</p><p>The National Living Wage (NLW) benefits a higher proportion of women than men. In April 2019, the NLW will increase by 4.9% to £8.21. This of course includes women from more marginalised or vulnerable groups such as those who have suffered from abuse.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Minister for Women and Equalities recently announced £500k of funding to support people with multiple and potentially complex barriers to returning to work, including victims of domestic abuse. Cervical cancer in women under the age of 25 is very rare and younger women often undergo natural and harmless changes in the cervix that screening would identify as abnormalities, resulting in many false negatives.</p><p>We offer vaccination to girls to protect against the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) which protects against 70 per cent of cervical cancers and which is expected to reduce the already low rates of cervical cancer in these young women and allow them to be protected for years to come.</p><p>Young women with symptoms of cervical cancer, largely unusual bleeding particularly after sex, should see their GP and be referred to a gynecologist if clinically appropriate.</p><p>My Rt Hon Friend the Minister for Women and Equalities has no plans to discuss this issue with the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care<em>.</em></p> answering member constituency Louth and Horncastle answering member printed Victoria Atkins question first answered 15/01/2019 17:39:22 answering member 4399 label Biography information for Victoria Atkins

Our grant fund is enabling charities and other organisations to launch projects for people who are currently out of work due to caring responsibilities and want to return to permanent employment. Home-Start have previously applied for this GEO funding.</p><p> </p><p>We have recently announced further funding to support those with additional barriers to participating in the labour market – including people who speak little English, people with disabilities, and those who are homeless or have been victims of domestic abuse. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/03/2019 answer text <p>We believe that listing specific conditions would not help people with hard to diagnose illnesses (as is currently often the case with fibromyalgia), as doing so would make protection dependent upon a successful diagnosis rather than the immediate impact of the illness on a person’s life.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Equality Act 2010 is the principal means through which disabled people are protected from discrimination in Great Britain but does not, except in a few specific instances, specify conditions that may fall within the definition of disability. We know that individuals are less likely to reoffend if they have a stable home to go to upon release. The Ministry of Justice is already working very closely with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to improve the accommodation opportunities for those with a history of offending.</p><p> </p><p>The two departments are also working together through their membership of the cross-government Reducing Reoffending Board and the cross-government Rough Sleeping and Homelessness Taskforce.</p><p> </p><p>This includes supporting the delivery of the Rough Sleeping Strategy, which was published in August 2018. As part of this Strategy, the Government is investing £6.4M in a joint pilot to support individuals who have served 12 months or less in custody, and who are at risk of being released as homeless, to secure and maintain accommodation.</p><p> </p><p>Since 1 October, Prisons and Probation providers have been subject to a legal ‘Duty to Refer’ anyone who is homeless or at risk of becoming homeless to the Local Authority. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/02/2019 answer text <p>The Government recognises the importance of local funding for support services for vulnerable people including those over 55.</p><p>The funding for housing related support services is subsumed within the local government finance settlement. This funding was ring-fenced until 2009, when the ring-fence was removed thus allowing all local authorities to manage funding according to local priorities. It is up to local authorities to decide which services they wish to fund.</p><p>We are currently undertaking a review of housing related-support, to help us better understand how housing and support fit together. The review will give us a fuller picture into how housing-related support is provided for supported housing across England.</p><p>The Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) can also support all eligible, including older, people to adapt their homes, to make them safe and suitable for their needs. Since 2012-13, the Government has invested more than £2.2 billion into the Grant, providing around 280,000 adaptations by the end of 2018-19. The grant has more than doubled from £220 million in 2015-16 to £505 million in 2019-20. Member for Romford (Mr Andrew Rosindell).</p><p>For the Army, the health and wellbeing of personnel is a priority. A range of initiatives and policies are continuously being developed and implemented to address the conditions which most frequently cause medical downgrades.</p><p>The introduction earlier this year of new Physical Employment Standards for Ground Close Combat (GCC) roles followed evidence from research as part of a five-year programme that aims to reduce musculo-skeletal injury and optimise operational effectiveness. Work is now under way to develop the most suitable standards for non-GCC roles.</p><p>Additionally, there are a number of initiatives that aim to provide long-term support to address poor lifestyle choices and weight management issues, which we recognise as an issue for modern society.
