This includes health and safety in the workplace and the control of exposure to carcinogens and mutagens. The UK has a tradition of exceeding EU standards. The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 has led to the United Kingdom having one of the best records on health and safety at work in the world. CF services are delivered in about 20 Paediatric Cystic Fibrosis Centres and about 20 Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centres. There are separate service specifications for adults and children. This includes specific details on how to monitor the condition and manage the symptoms to improve quality of life. This guidance can be found via the following link:</p><p> </p><p><a href="http://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/ng78" target="_blank">www.nice.org.uk/guidance/ng78#</a></p><p> </p><p>NICE is the organisation responsible for assessing the clinical and cost effectiveness of medicine for the NHS. NICE has considered precision medicines for the treatment of CF, such as Orkambi and Kalydeco. The use of Kalydeco is approved by NICE and is currently being used by around 400 patients. However, NICE have been unable to recommend the use of the precision medicine Orkambi. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/01/2019 answer text <p>The Government responded to Thriving at Work: Stevenson/Farmer Review of mental health and employers in the command paper ‘Improving Lives: The Future of Work, Health and Disability’ which was published on 30 November 2017. The joint Department for Work and Pensions and Department of Health and Social Care Work and Health Unit is now overseeing progress across 40 recommendations that range from short term deliverables to longer term reform.</p><p> </p><p>Its central recommendation identified the need for employers to adopt a comprehensive set of mental health standards. The Government is committed to working with the authors of the review and key stakeholders across the public, private and voluntary sectors to ensure that employers of all sizes act to implement the core and enhanced standards and help them, and their employees, realise the benefits of healthy, inclusive workplaces.</p><p> </p><p>Following the Prime Minister’s acceptance of the recommendations that apply to the Civil Service and NHS England as major employers, both organisations have made progress in implementing these. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/04/2019 answer text <p>The Government has given local authorities strong powers to drive up standards in houses in multiple occupation (HMOs). These include mandatory, additional and selective licensing as well as civil penalties of up to £30,000, rent repayment orders and banning orders for those landlords who refuse to comply with the law.</p><p>We have also recently extended mandatory licensing of HMOs. Mandatory licensing is recognised to have improved safety and property standards in HMOs, the extension will bring an additional 170,000 properties within scope of mandatory licensing.</p><p>In addition, the Government is currently refreshing guidance for local authorities in order to help them better use these powers.
