unstar this property answer text <p>Given the role of the Attorney General’s Department, it does not lead on specific projects related to the UK leaving the EU and therefore has not incurred any additional expenditure. None of the Law Officers’ Departments has received direct funding therefore for work relating to the UK leaving the EU. Members of staff across the Law Officers’ Departments provide advice and analysis on different issues as required, and different Government departments bid for funding from HMT to pay for their resource needs, including the services of the Government Legal Department (GLD).</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The Law Officers' Departments use their resource flexibly and a number of staff from across the organisations have been involved in work that supports the UK’s exit from the EU.</p><p> </p><p>The Government Legal Department has a team that specifically provides legal services to the Department for Exiting the European Union (DExEU). Currently, there are 41.5 full-time-equivalent staff in this team and GLD would expect to charge DExEU £3.731m for the services of this team in the 2017/18 financial year.</p><p> </p><p>The remaining Law Officers' Departments (Attorney General’s Office, Crown Prosecution Service, Serious Fraud Office and Her Majesty’s Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate) do not keep a separate record of expenditure for work relating to the UK’s exit from the EU. It would not be proportionate to quantify the number of staff involved and calculate costings, – particularly as the numbers of staff involved and the time requirements from each vary over time.</p> more like this

Government departments, who operate services on the GOV.UK domain, are accountable for the provision of these services in the Welsh language, and in this they are guided by the requirements of their own Welsh Language schemes.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Cabinet Office online services available in Welsh in addition to GOV.UK include GOV.UK Verify and Register to Vote. The Department for Exiting the European Union is undertaking detailed work with departments to prepare for the upcoming negotiations by understanding the risks and opportunities of leaving the EU and coordinating planning.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Staff in my Department continue to work closely with officials in the Department for Exiting the European Union. Indeed, a large contingent of Cabinet Office staff formed the basis of the new Department’s workforce when it was created last year.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Members of staff across the Department also provide advice and analysis on EU Exit issues as required.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>But given the interactions between EU exit work and the Department’s other priorities, it would not be possible to give an accurate figure.</p><p> </p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>For all civil servants, including Fast Streamers and SCS, Civil Service Learning provides one-day workshops on Understanding Parliament, which are delivered at Foundation (introduction) and Practitioner (advanced) levels. Both of these workshops cover Parliament’s scrutiny and legislative roles. Dedicated training sessions covering specific topics are also available. These include Introduction to Parliament, Select Committees, Debates and Voting, Pre and Post Legislative Scrutiny, Parliamentary Questions, Delegated Legislation, and Primary Legislation. A half-day workshop is available on producing effective explanatory memoranda to accompany secondary legislation. The Cabinet Office’s Parliamentary Business and Legislation Team provide training to Bill Teams. The Government Legal Department and Parliamentary Counsel run a course on Dealing with Parliamentary Bills for Lawyers, which covers parliamentary stages and handling. Stand-alone events are run, eg during Parliament Week. Bespoke sessions for government departments are available on request.</p>

This is likely to include the repeal, but also the amendment, of provisions in Acts but we are not in a position to give a sense of scale at this time.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>In the Government White Paper on the Repeal Bill [‘Legislating for the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union’], published on 30 March 2017, we estimated around 800-1,000 EU-exit related Statutory Instruments will be required.</p><p> </p> more like this
