unstar this property answer text <p>Given the role of the Attorney General’s Department, it does not lead on specific projects related to the UK leaving the EU and therefore has not incurred any additional expenditure. None of the Law Officers’ Departments has received direct funding therefore for work relating to the UK leaving the EU. Members of staff across the Law Officers’ Departments provide advice and analysis on different issues as required, and different Government departments bid for funding from HMT to pay for their resource needs, including the services of the Government Legal Department (GLD).</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The Law Officers' Departments use their resource flexibly and a number of staff from across the organisations have been involved in work that supports the UK’s exit from the EU.</p><p> </p><p>The Government Legal Department has a team that specifically provides legal services to the Department for Exiting the European Union (DExEU). Currently, there are 41.5 full-time-equivalent staff in this team and GLD would expect to charge DExEU £3.731m for the services of this team in the 2017/18 financial year.</p><p> </p><p>The remaining Law Officers' Departments (Attorney General’s Office, Crown Prosecution Service, Serious Fraud Office and Her Majesty’s Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate) do not keep a separate record of expenditure for work relating to the UK’s exit from the EU. It would not be proportionate to quantify the number of staff involved and calculate costings, – particularly as the numbers of staff involved and the time requirements from each vary over time.</p> more like this

The Department for Exiting the European Union is undertaking detailed work with departments to prepare for the upcoming negotiations by understanding the risks and opportunities of leaving the EU and coordinating planning.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Staff in my Department continue to work closely with officials in the Department for Exiting the European Union. Indeed, a large contingent of Cabinet Office staff formed the basis of the new Department’s workforce when it was created last year.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Members of staff across the Department also provide advice and analysis on EU Exit issues as required.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>But given the interactions between EU exit work and the Department’s other priorities, it would not be possible to give an accurate figure.</p><p> </p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>Government departments have been analysing the UK statute book and directly applicable EU law in their areas of responsibility to enable an assessment of the scale of the changes needed. This is likely to include the repeal, but also the amendment, of provisions in Acts but we are not in a position to give a sense of scale at this time.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>In the Government White Paper on the Repeal Bill [‘Legislating for the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union’], published on 30 March 2017, we estimated around 800-1,000 EU-exit related Statutory Instruments will be required.</p><p> </p> more like this

Government departments, who operate services on the GOV.UK domain, are accountable for the provision of these services in the Welsh language, and in this they are guided by the requirements of their own Welsh Language schemes.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Cabinet Office online services available in Welsh in addition to GOV.UK include GOV.UK Verify and Register to Vote. Cabinet Office will carefully consider all requests for translation of new services into the Welsh language as part of the evaluation of evidence of user need.</p><p> </p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The rules for boundary Reviews are set out in the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986, as amended by the Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Act 2011.</p><p> </p><p>The rules stipulate that the number of constituencies is 600 and that all constituencies, subject to a limited number of exceptions, must be between 95% and 105% of the United Kingdom electoral quota, which is the average number of electors per constituency. Reviews are to be conducted every five years.</p><p>The rules are designed to ensure that there is fairness in the setting of parliamentary constituencies and having seats of an equal size will ensure everyone’s vote will carry equal weight.</p><p> </p> more like this
