This has contributed to the National Health Service reducing expenditure from £3.6 billion in 2015/16 to £2.4 billion in 2020/21. We have been taking decisive action to address these temporary issues and to improve access to these medicines. These actions include working with manufacturers and wholesalers to expedite deliveries, bring forward existing stock to help ensure it gets to where it is needed and to boost supply to meet demand as quickly as possible. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/09/2023 answer text <p>The Department has taken steps to work with NHS England to modernise and simplify National Health Service cancer waiting time targets. The new standards are more in line with the requirements of modern cancer care, with a greater focus on outcomes and incentivising the completion of the pathway, in the best interests of patients.</p><p>From 1 October 2023, the NHS will move from the 10 different standards currently in place to three:</p><p>- Faster Diagnosis Standard: a diagnosis or ruling out of cancer within 28 days of referral (set at 75%, rising to 80% by 2026);</p><p>- 31-day treatment standard: commence treatment within 31 days of a decision to treat for all cancer patients (set at 96%); and</p><p>- 62-day treatment standard: commence treatment within 62 days of being referred or consultant upgrade (set at 85%).</p><p>There will be minimal changes to reporting of data by trusts. In addition, Cancer Waiting Time statistics will continue to be published monthly by NHS England, who will take this opportunity to improve the granularity of the statistics by cancer type.</p><p>NHS England will continue to collect and publish some data on the other process-based standards, such as first and subsequent radiotherapy or chemotherapy treatments. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/10/2021 answer text <p>The department believes it is right for local authorities, who know their areas’ needs best, to determine what services are required locally, including early help.</p><p>In line with this, respite care services for disabled children are provided on the basis of an individual assessment of each child and family’s needs.</p><p>This year councils have access to £51.3 billion to deliver their core services, including a £1.7 billion grant for social care. The government has also given over £6 billion in unringfenced funding directly to councils to support them with the immediate and longer-term impacts of COVID-19 spending pressures, including children’s services.</p><p>The department will continue to work with other government departments, including the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, to ensure the upcoming Spending Review reflects the needs of children’s services.</p><p>In addition to statutory services, the department is providing £27.3 million to the Family Fund in financial year 2021-22 to support over 60,000 families on low incomes raising children and young people with disabilities or serious illnesses. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/02/2022 answer text <p>In July 2021 the government published the National Disability Strategy, setting out a range of commitments over supporting children and young people with disabilities in their education and preparation for adulthood.</p><p>The department is providing over £42 million during this financial year 2021-22 to continue funding projects to support children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This investment will ensure that specialist organisations around the country can continue to help strengthen local area performance, support families and provide practical support to schools and colleges. It will strengthen participation of parents and young people in the SEND system, ensuring they have a voice in designing policies and services and have access to essential support. This also includes £27.3 million in the financial year 2021-22 to support families on low incomes raising disabled or seriously ill children.</p><p>Additionally, councils will be funded £30 million for the next three years to set up more than 10,000 additional respite placements, helping to provide positive opportunities for disabled children and young people.</p><p>The department is conducting a review of the SEND system and looking at ways to make sure the system is more consistent, high quality, and integrated across education, health and care. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/04/2019 answer text <p>Having access to income information from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) allows the Child Maintenance Service to capture a much wider range of income types received by paying parents. In addition to a parent’s gross annual income, we can capture income derived from property, savings and investments (including dividends) and other miscellaneous income. This unearned income can be included in the calculation if a request is made to vary the calculation. In December 2018 we introduced new powers which also enable us to target complex earners by a calculation of notional income based on their assets.</p><p> </p><p>Cases involving complex income or suspected fraudulent behaviour can be looked into by the Financial Investigation Unit (FIU). This is a specialist team which can request information from financial institutions to check the accuracy of information the Child Maintenance Service is given. In September, we announced ‘Our plan for patients’, which outlines how we will meet oral health needs and increase access to dental care, including in Easington.</p><p>The plan includes improvements to ensure dentists are renumerated fairly for more complex work, allowing greater flexibility to reallocate resources and to utilise dentists with greater capacity to deliver National Health Service treatment, whilst enabling full use of the dental team. The plan also includes streamlining processes for overseas dentists and holding the local NHS to account for dentistry provision.
