star this property answer text The UK fully supports the UN Action Plan for Libya set out at the UN General Assembly by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Ghassan Salamé, and endorsed in the Security Council's Presidential Statement of 14 December 2017. The Action Plan envisages negotiations on limited amendments to the Libya Political Agreement, a National Conference, preparations for elections and the provision of humanitarian assistance where it is needed in Libya. The UK supports the Special Representative's emphasis on the importance of ensuring that elections, when they happen, are preceded by the necessary political, legislative and security preparations. more like this

star this property answer text The Chancellor is extremely proud of our record of helping over 600,000 disabled people into employment over the last four years. At the Treasury Committee, he made a broader point about workforce productivity. Both the Institute for Fiscal Studies and the Office for Budget Responsibility have suggested that increasing overall employment may have had an effect on measures of productivity. The Chancellor was not suggesting – and does not believe – that increased participation by people with disabilities has had any negative impact on the economy. It has helped to increase economic growth and it is something we can be very proud of as a country. more like this

star this property answer text Sudan faces a number of economic challenges. While US economic sanctions were lifted in late 2017, Sudan remains a challenging place to do business. The economic situation has been exacerbated by a shortage of foreign exchange which has resulted in fuel shortages. Sudan is still unable to access international financial assistance, in part due to its arrears to the International Monetary Fund and others and the failure to service its debt. Politically, the UK continues to work with the Government of Sudan to ensure that constitutional and political rights are respected. Sudan remains a Human Rights Priority Country for the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. The UK continues to encourage Sudan to undertake macroeconomic and political reforms, including through the six-monthly Strategic Dialogue with the Government of Sudan. more like this
