	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/12/2014 answer text <p>The Department for Education uses the Teacher Supply Model (TSM) to calculate the optimum number of Initial Teacher Training (ITT) places required to match the future supply of teachers to the estimated demand for qualified teachers within the state funded sector in England. The National College of Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) use this information to inform their allocation of ITT places to teacher training providers.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Department does not include pension and National Insurance contribution as factors in econometric forecasts of numbers who will leave the profession; however we do use average relative pay.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Whilst the Department estimates future teacher demand at a national level, decision-making taken at school level determines the actual number of teachers required. In addition, the reforms to teachers’ pay that were introduced from September 2013 have given schools greater freedom to develop local reward packages which enable them to attract and retain the good teachers they need.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Department has published the TSM online, along with an outline of the wastage forecast methodology. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/12/2014 answer text <p>We are not able, in the time available, to assess how many schools have received the pupil premium in total since its introduction in 2011 as this data is not held in the format requested. However, in the 2013-14 financial year, 19,986 schools attracted funding due to having one or more pupils who had been registered for free school meals at any point in the previous six years. There were also 1,349 schools (maintained special schools, special academies, pupil referral units (PRUs) or Alternative Provision academies) for which the local authority received any pupil premium funding due, in line with the conditions of grant. These figures do not take into account schools receiving pupil premium plus for looked after children, as this funding was also allocated to local authorities to distribute.</p><p> </p><p>The gap in pupils achieving Level 4 or above in key stage 2 reading and mathematics has narrowed from 19.3 to 16.2 percentage points between 2011 and 2013. The gap in pupils achieving at least five good GCSEs including English and mathematics has narrowed from 27.4 to 26.7 percentage points over the same period.</p><p> </p><p>Whilst it is too soon to see significant evidence of the impact of the policy on the national attainment statistics, our assessments of the policy show an improving picture. The first cohort started training in January 2014 with 41 trainees; the second started in September 2014 with 54 trainees. Cohort one attracted 982 applications, cohort 2 attracted 250. In total 1,232 Service Leavers have applied for the Troops to Teachers programme. Through the programme, 260 schools will be rebuilt or have their condition needs met by the Education Funding Agency (EFA).</p><p> </p><p>Under the Priority School Building Programme we have now signed construction contracts for 63 schools.</p><p> </p><p>8 schools have opened in new buildings since October 2014. This brings the total number of schools open in new buildings to 14. Employers may have to provide compensation in cases where it is shown that they have not taken measures to protect their employees from the risk of exposure to asbestos. As the employers of teaching professionals in educational establishments, it is for schools, academy trusts or governing bodies (depending on the type of school) to provide compensation to employees harmed by asbestos exposure.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>There are a number of schemes available to those who are unable to bring a claim for compensation against their employer or trace the relevant employers' liability insurer, which can support those who may have experienced this.
