star this property answer text <p> </p><p>The Office of the Public Guardian (an executive agency of the Ministry of Justice) is piloting an assisted digital service through three third sector organisations: Alzheimer's Society, Age UK and CAB. Customers identified as requiring the service are signposted by the OPG contact centre to the providers national contact numbers. The pilots are being used to assess the extent of the assisted digital need and to evaluate different methods for delivery.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Before going live every digital by default service is required to make sure appropriate assisted digital support is in place. Services are working with GDS to understand who their assisted digital users are and what this support should look like.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The National Security through Technology White Paper(Cm 8278) lays out our commitment to open procurement, and that the Department and its agencies will conduct research and development only where it is essential for our national security.</p><p> </p><p>The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl), a Ministry of Defence (MOD) Trading Fund, delivers the majority of the MOD's Science and Technology Programme. Any ideas generated within Dstl can be commercialised through Ploughshare Innovations Ltd, a technology transfer company owned by Dstl.</p><p> </p><p>Where external suppliers are contracted, the MOD leaves the intellectual property rights of any discovery or technology with those suppliers to commercialise. The MOD retains rights to disclose and use the intellectual property for UK Government purposes.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Recruitment for the Joint Cyber Unit (Reserve) began in October 2013. The Cyber Reserve will provide support to the Joint Cyber Unit (Corsham), the Joint Cyber Unit (Cheltenham), and tri-service Information Assurance units. Interest in joining the Cyber Reserve has been extremely positive, both in terms of the quality and quantity of applications received. A number of Cyber Reservist applicants have been selected and are now going through single Service recruiting processes, with many more being invited to interview. The first Cyber Reserve Induction Courses have taken place and these individuals will now move onto specific workplace induction and training. ISS has recently embarked on an ambitious tranformational change programme aimed at enhancing ICT capabilities across the MOD (both in the operational and corporate domains). Technology and Innovation are at the heart of ISS Transformation and our initial focus will be to deliver improvements to the MOD-wide computer network, Defence Information Infrastructure (DII). star this property answer text <p /> <p /> <p>Tackling cyber crime is one of the key objectives of the UK’s Cyber Security Strategy. The Government has supported this with £860m of investment over five years through the National Cyber Security Programme (NCSP). We have so far committed £70m of NCSP funding in improving law enforcement agencies’ ability to respond to this threat, including setting up the National Cyber Crime Unit in the National Crime Agency, and cyber teams in each of the Regional Organised Crime Units. We are also supporting the training of police officers and investigators in local forces in England and Wales, through the development of new online and classroom-based training packages by the College of Policing for 5,000 officers.</p><p /> <p /> <p> </p> more like this
