In line with UN Security Council Resolution 550, the UK does not recognise the self-declared &quot;Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus&quot; as an independent state. The UK recognises only one Cypriot state – the Republic of Cyprus – and only one government as the sole legitimate government. star this property answer text <p>​The creation of new central registers, or similarly effective systems has been completed in the following Overseas Territories with financial centres: British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Bermuda, and Gibraltar with legislation to underpin the registers passed by their respective legislatures. Full population of the registers with data will be taken forward as a priority in the coming months.</p><p>The Turks and Caicos Islands has passed legislation, and its register is expected to be operational by the end of July.</p><p>Anguilla has not yet established its register, and we continue to engage with the Anguillan authorities to take this forward.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>​Ocean protection issues have been a key point of discussion among Ministers at recent G7 and G20 meetings. The Weddell Sea Marine Protected Area proposal is currently being finalised by those European Union Member States who are also Members of the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR), and international consultations are underway at official and technical levels. The final proposal will be submitted to CCAMLR in September, when we will work with other EU members to consider the most appropriate level of lobbying.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>​I raised the issue most recently with the Turkish Ambassador on 13 May. While strongly condemning the ongoing violence perpetrated by the Kurdistan Workers' Party, a proscribed terrorist organisation in the UK, we have encouraged the Turkish authorities to implement the recommendations made by the Committee for the Prevention of Torture following their visit to Imrali prison where Mr Öcalan is detained. In this regard, I welcome the fact that Mr Öcalan was granted access to two lawyers on 2 May. I also note the comment made by Mr Öcalan, via his lawyers, that individuals should not pursue these hunger strikes to the point of serious illness or death.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>​As part of our bilateral relationship with Italy we regularly discuss migration issues at ministerial and official level. Sea-Watch 3 disembarked the 47 rescued migrants on board at Catania (Sicily) on 31 January. While the vessel was awaiting permission to disembark, the UK Government both engaged with Italian officials and authorities and, through its local Honorary Consul, contacted the vessel to ensure that the four British nationals amongst the crew knew how to seek consular assistance if required.</p> more like this
