	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 21/01/2019 answer text <p>Across government, we are tackling the problems that cause children to be in need in the first place. This includes better supporting those with alcohol-dependent parents and the introduction of landmark legislation for those affected by domestic abuse, preventing young people being drawn into serious violence. The government have also provided unprecedented investment in early years education, support for children and young people’s mental health and the Troubled Families programme to achieve improvement for families with multiple, high-cost problems.</p><p>At Autumn Budget, my right hon. Friend, the Chancellor announced an extra £410 million to address pressures on adult and children social care services. This builds on the £200 billion government has already made available to councils up to 2020 to provide services in the best interests of local residents, including those for children and young people.</p><p>My right hon. Friend, the Chancellor also announced at Autumn Budget £84 million over 5 years to support up to 20 local authorities to improve their social work practice and decision-making, enabling them to work more effectively with the most vulnerable children and their families. This is in addition to the almost £270 million the Department for Education has invested in our Innovation and Improvement programmes since 2014. There are 101 staff based outside Greater London that are paid below the London Living Wage but all of these staff are paid the Real Living Wage.</p><p>The Student Loans Company is one of the department’s non-departmental public bodies (NDPBs) and we do not hold data on their staff and their rates of pay.</p><p>​The Equality and Human Rights Commission is no longer an NDPB of the department. The government welcomes international students and there continues to be no limit on the number who can come here to study, and there are no plans to limit any institution’s ability to recruit them.</p><p> </p><p>The UK remains a highly attractive destination for non-EU students with their numbers remaining at record highs, with over 170,000 non-EU entrants to UK higher education institutions for the seventh year running. The UK is a world-leading destination for study, with four universities in the world’s top 10 and 16 in the top 100 – second only to the USA. The government actively promotes study in the UK through the GREAT Campaign and to over 100 countries through the British Council.</p><p> </p><p>In the Immigration White Paper, published on 19 December 2018, the government proposed to increase the post-study leave period for international students following completion of studies to 12 months for those completing a PhD, and to six months for all full-time postgraduate students and undergraduate students at institutions with degree awarding powers. The department intends to publish these statistics annually. These statistics cover the whole of the UK and come from a variety of data sources and, as such, it is currently not possible to disaggregate these statistics to a regional or local authority level. The strategy will set out the government’s ambition for international education, and plans to support the sector in driving growth in education exports.</p><p><br> The UK is committed to pursuing ambitious trade agreements with the United States, Australia and New Zealand after we leave the European Union, which would seek to build on the UK’s current £19.9 billion of education export revenue. From the Longitudinal Education Outcomes data we have published the employment and earnings of higher education graduates at different points after graduation. This includes the employment and earnings specifically for international graduates who remained in the UK at 1, 3, 5, and 10 years after graduation. This information can be accessed here: <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/statistics-higher-education-graduate-employment-and-earnings" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/statistics-higher-education-graduate-employment-and-earnings</a>.</p><p> </p><p>In addition to this, the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), responsible for collecting, processing, and publishing data about higher education in the UK, is enhancing the data it collects on graduate destinations. HESA’s new ‘Graduate Outcomes Survey’ will apply to 2017/18 graduates from all nations and record their location and activities around 15 months after completion of their studies. This is a longer-term view of graduate destinations than is currently available from the six-month Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education Survey. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/05/2019 answer text <p>EU students and staff make an important contribution to our universities and it is testament to our system that so many students from abroad choose to come and study here.</p><p>I know that students, staff and providers are concerned about what EU exit means for study and collaboration opportunities. To help give certainty, in July 2018, we announced guarantees on student finance for EU nationals. These guarantees are not altered if the UK leaves the EU without a deal.</p><p>EU nationals who start a course in England in the 2019/20 academic year or before will continue to be eligible for ‘home fee’ status and student finance support from Student Finance England for the duration of their course, provided they meet the residency requirement. We recognise how important it is that students and institutions have information on eligibility for student support before applications for courses open.</p><p>Applications for courses starting in academic year 2020/21 do not open until September 2019. High quality personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) teaching has an important role to play in providing young people with a curriculum for life, which equips them with the skills and understanding they need to manage their lives, succeed and stay safe. We have made it clear in the introduction to the framework of the national curriculum that all schools should teach PSHE.</p><p>We have committed to improving the quality of PSHE and intend to make significant progress on this issue during this Parliament.
