	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/12/2017 answer text <p>We are working to ensure a smooth transition for the chemical industry as we leave the EU.</p><p> </p><p>The European Union (Withdrawal Bill) will convert existing EU chemicals law, including REACH, into domestic law wherever practical, giving consumers and businesses as much certainty as possible. The UK is strongly committed to the effective and safe management of chemicals. For example, the fee structure for registration is determined by both the size of the registrant company and the tonnage band of registration. This includes regular discussions at Ministerial and official level. It is our biggest manufacturing sector and a key element of our £100 billion agri-food chain. In 2015, the UK exported over £18 billion worth of food, feed and drink to more than 200 countries and territories. The joint Defra and Department for International Trade Food and Drink International Action Plan, published last month, sets out how the Government will work with the sector to champion UK food and drink overseas, break down trade barriers and open up new international markets.</p><p> </p><p>Since the EU Referendum, Defra has continued to meet regularly with the food manufacturing sector to listen to their views and better understand key issues for the sector about leaving the EU. We are opening up public procurement to more SMEs and local producers and funding the Food Innovation Network to help the spread of innovation.</p><p>There is extensive interest in the Industrial Strategy across the sector as evidenced by their response to the Industrial Strategy green paper. The Government is working to secure a deal which achieves the freest possible trade in goods and services between the UK and the EU.</p><p><br> Discussion on the sanitary and phytosanitary conditions and related official controls that will be applicable to trade in animal and plant products will form part of these negotiations. Negotiations between the UK and the EU have so far been limited to the withdrawal arrangements.
