star this property answer text <p>Following two months of intensive discussions, the UK secured an expansive removal of Section 232 tariffs on UK steel and aluminium exports to the US on 22 March. The solution reached with the US is bespoke for the UK and reflects the needs and interests of our steel and aluminium industries.</p><p>From 1 June 2022, the US will replace its Section 232 tariffs on certain UK exports of steel and aluminium with “tariff-rate quotas” (TRQs). This re-opens tariff-free access to the US market back to levels before section 232 tariffs up to a specified volume. This will bring welcome relief to the UK steel and aluminium industries which support the jobs of around 80,000 people across the UK supply chain.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The manufacturing sector plays a vital role in the UK economy, by driving innovation, exports, job creation and productivity growth.</p><p>The Government announced a new energy support scheme for businesses in January ahead of the current scheme ending in March. All eligible UK businesses will continue to receive a discount on high energy bills until 31 March 2024.</p><p>Supply Chain constraints and cost escalation are not unique to the UK. The government will assist where it can, for example, with the action we have taken to respond to requests for Duty Suspensions and action to train more HGV drivers.</p><p>I would also refer my hon. star this property answer text <p>Since 24 December 2020, NHS England has published weekly data on the total number of vaccinations amongst over 80 year olds and under 80 year olds in England. Since 11 January 2021, daily data for England is being published showing the total number vaccinated to date, including first and second doses. From 14 January and then on a weekly basis, NHS England has published more detailed data on vaccinations in England. star this property answer text <p>Research carried out by the Automotive Council on growing the domestic supply chain reported that parts sourced by UK car manufacturers from UK first-tier suppliers was 44% by value in 2017. This is up from 36% when the first research was published in 2012.</p><p>The Government continues to work with industry to unlock private investment in our EV supply chain via the Automotive Transformation Fund, enabling a UK-made transition to Net Zero by positioning the UK as one of the best locations in the world to manufacture electric vehicles.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Our <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/uk-critical-mineral-strategy/critical-minerals-refresh-delivering-resilience-in-a-changing-global-environment-published-13-march-2023" target="_blank">Critical Minerals Refresh</a>, published just this month, reinforces the UK’s Critical Minerals Strategy, and sets out a refreshed approach to delivering resilient critical mineral supply chains. With a focus on the circular economy, our approach includes looking at regulatory ways to promote recycling and recovery. Defra expects to consult on regulations for end-of-life batteries later this year. This will consider measures to promote the recovery, reuse or recycling of all battery chemistry types, including those found in electric vehicles (EVs).</p><p> </p><p>As well as £541m for battery research and development through the Faraday Battery Challenge, we are also funding the £30 million National Interdisciplinary Circular Economy Research (NICER) Programme, including a centre on technology metals.</p>
