star this property answer text <p>The Department models the proportion of loans which we expect not to be repaid - the resource accounting and budgeting charge (RAB charge). The RAB charge is estimated to be 50% of the total loan amount. BIS is collecting data on learners as it emerges. This includes new free schools and new academies but does not include maintained schools that converted to academy status.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Prior to 2010 the records did not capture the information in a way which would allow us to respond fully to the Rt Hon Lady’s question. star this property answer text <p>Thirty university technical colleges (UTCs) and 37 studio schools are open in the 2014-15 academic year and listed in the attached table, with the exception of 4 studio schools that are schools within schools and do not have separate pupil census data.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The numbers of year 10, 11, 12 and 13 pupils enrolled in each institution at the date of the October 2014 school census are also in the table below, alongside the number of students each institution has been funded for. These ‘funded for’ numbers are only available at pre-16 and post-16 level. Where the funded number has been based on an estimate but the actual number of pupils on roll as per the October census is higher the school will receive additional funding later that year. Where the actual number is lower than the estimate the funding is re-paid to the Department in the following academic year.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Some UTC and studio schools also report pupils in year 9, 14 and X (pupils not assigned to a particular year group). These have been included for completeness. ‘Supp’ denotes supressed low pupil counts (of less than 3).</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Most UTCs and studio schools that opened in September 2014 will have year 10 (or 9) and year 12 pupils only.</p><p> </p><p> </p>
