star this property answer text In June 2016 the Human Rights Council published a report detailing the horrific extent of trafficking of Yezidi women within Iraq and Syria. We do not have any evidence to suggest that Yezidi women are being trafficked outside of Iraq and Syria. We continue to work closely with our Global Coalition partners to defeat Daesh, including those in the region. more like this

star this property answer text The third UK National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security, covering the period 2014-17, was published in June 2014. In December 2014 we presented an Implementation Plan to Parliament, which set out our goals for action on this important issue in our priority countries: Afghanistan, Burma, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Libya, Somalia and Syria. The National Action Plan, jointly owned by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the Department for International Development and the Ministry of Defence, demonstrates our intention to put women and girls at the centre of all our efforts to prevent and resolve conflict; to prevent and respond to violence against women and girls; and to promote peace and stability internationally. We will report to Parliament on progress in implementing the National Action Plan in the autumn. more like this

star this property answer text
The UK is working with international and EU partners to assess the current levels of migration in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and identify where the UK could provide support. The latest UN figures estimate, as of September, 16,144 refugee and migrant arrivals in 2018, of which 4000 – 4,400 remain in country. We are concerned by attempts by politicians to politicise the migration issue. Along with international partners the UK has urged, BiH politicians to work together to address the challenges posed by migration, rather than use them for political ends.
more like this

The Foreign Secretary was told on his visit to Burma on 10 February that allegations will be investigated and that those found guilty will face punishment in line with Burmese law. We remain, however, concerned that Burmese investigations lack credibility. We will continue to press the Burmese authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice through credible and transparent judicial process.
more like this

We therefore welcome the establishment of this Commission. The Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, my Hon. Friend the Member for Reading West (Alok Sharma), issued a statement to this effect on 25 August. On 14 September he also held a telephone conversation with Mr Annan in which he conveyed the UK’s strong support for his appointment and mandate. We are clear that this is a Burmese conceived and led initiative, and that is as it should be. The UK is providing funding to support the work of the Kofi Annan Foundation.
more like this
