unstar this property answer text <p>The majority of central government funding for home to school transport is made available to local authorities through the local government finance settlement provided by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.</p><p>Additional funding is provided each year by the Department for Education to support local authorities in meeting their ‘extended rights’ duties for children from low-income families. unstar this property answer text <p>The Teachers’ Pay Grant uses funding which has been released from the core schools budget, specifically the Schools Block of the Dedicated Schools Grant and the Pupil Premium.</p><p> </p><p>The amount originally set aside for these budgets in July 2017 was based on the projected number of pupils in schools and the projected number of pupils eligible for the pupil premium, in 2018/19 and 2019/20. These numbers are lower than forecast, and updated projections for 2019/20 suggest slower than previously expected pupil number growth.</p><p> </p><p>Using the funding this difference creates, the Department is providing schools with £187 million in 2018-19 and £321 million in 2019-20, to help them implement the announced pay award.</p> more like this

Funding from 2020-21 onwards will be considered as part of the next Spending Review.</p><p>The Department will also consult on whether any funding should be provided to other employers within the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.</p><p>The Government Actuary’s Department is finalising the valuation of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme – based on the directions published by HM Treasury – and all figures are subject to change based on the final valuation.</p><p> </p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>For 2019-20, the Department estimates that £1.1 billion more will need to be put into the Teachers’ Pension Scheme by employers to ensure teachers’ pensions remain generous and attractive to the profession. This is broken down as down as follows: £830 million from state-funded schools, £110 million from the Independent Sector, £80 million from Further Education Colleges and £80 million from affected Higher Education Institutions.</p><p> </p><p>It is the Government’s intention to fund independent special schools for the costs of increased employer contributions in 2019-20, as these schools often have pupils on education, health and care plans, which are local authority funded, but the Department will be consulting to seek views on this to understand the impact these costs will impose on the independent schools sector.</p><p> </p> more like this
