star this property answer text
The Government attaches great importance to the history and traditions of this country and recognises that the flying of the St George’s Cross on St George’s Day will be an important act of celebration for many people. Individuals, local authorities and other organisations may fly national flags, including the St George’s Cross, whenever they wish, without the need for planning permission. It is for local authorities themselves to agree their own flag flying policies and I would welcome English councils marking St George’s Day by flying his historic flag.
more like this

The Building Act 1984 provides local authorities with a general duty to enforce compliance with building regulations and formal enforcement powers for dealing with breaches of the Building Regulations.

The Government agreed with the recommendations in Dame Judith Hackitt’s independent review of the building regulations and fire safety system and is committed to putting stronger accountability at the heart of a more effective system. As part of our reforms to building safety, we are establishing a new Building Safety Regulator which will provide enhanced oversight of the building safety regulatory system - driving competence amongst professions and trades working on buildings, as well as leading oversight of the tougher regime for high risk buildings.

The Home Secretary and the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government have published a joint letter in the Jewish Chronicle reassuring the Jewish Community of the Governments steadfast commitment to combatting antisemitism. This was accompanied by a visit to Golders Green and Finchley Road, with police and community representatives and we remain in dialogue with leaders of the Jewish community.

We are providing £14 million this year to the protective security grant to protect Jewish schools and community buildings.
