	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/11/2023 answer text <p><del class="ministerial">Theatre is the artform that receives the most public funding via Arts Council England, and there are now more theatre organisations in its National Portfolio than ever before. In 2023–24, Arts Council England is investing over £140 million in 194 theatre organisations, including 47 new theatre organisations joining the portfolio this year. The Arts Council will be investing £31,000 in theatre organisations in Romford in 2023–24.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">In addition, theatres and orchestras will continue to benefit from the extension by His Majesty’s Government of the higher rates of tax relief for a further two years, as announced at Spring Budget 2023.</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial">His Majesty’s Government has supported a number of projects looking at the cultural heritage of the Irish diaspora through its arm’s-length bodies.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">Arts Council England supported the Irish Arts Foundation on its 'Exploring the musical traditions of County Cork &amp; County Kerry' project in Leeds, providing over £20,000 of public funding in 2021/22. </ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">In 2022/23, The National Lottery Community Fund provided £7,950 of funding to Leeds Irish Arts Foundation’s ‘Neighbours!’ project, to help engage people from around West Yorkshire in Irish music and workshops to celebrate Irish culture, music and arts. In 2023/24, The National Lottery Community Fund provided £6,421 of funding to Cú Chulainn’s to deliver a family funday to bring young people and families from the local Irish community and the community more broadly together.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">Since 1994, The National Lottery Heritage Fund has awarded almost £3 million to projects which have explored the history of the Irish diaspora in England, covering themes such as the World Wars, aspects of culture shared with others, and the experiences of those who have built their lives here in the UK. </ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">‘Look Back to Look Forward: 50 Years of the Irish in Britain’ is an ambitious heritage project which captures the history of the Irish in Britain’s membership organisations and the communities they serve, and is currently touring. The cultural and creative industries are some of the fastest growing sectors of the UK economy, and the Government is committed to helping them continue to grow.</p><p>Our arm’s-length body, Arts Council England, funds local festivals and circus arts, both through performing arts organisations and individuals who practise circus skills.</p><p>For example, in 2021-22 Arts Council England invested over £6.5 million in circus-related activity. Organisations such as Out There Arts in Great Yarmouth and Greenwich &amp; Docklands Festival in London offer a range of support for established and emerging circus artists. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/01/2024 answer text <p>HM Government has a strong commitment to all forms of music, including folk traditions from around the UK and beyond. This Department’s support for folk music is delivered primarily through Arts Council England, which has engaged with the development of the English folk music scene over recent years.</p><p>The Arts Council’s primary investment in English folk music is via its National Portfolio. This programme supports organisations like Soundroots (£300,000 per annum) which runs the English Folk Expo (the annual showcase for folk, roots and acoustic music in England), and the English Folk Dance and Song Society (£96,748 per annum), which promotes English folk music and folk dance. In addition, one of Arts Council England’s new Investment Principle Support Organisations, Making Music, also supports a range of folk music ensembles.</p><p>Arts Council England has also invested £47,803 in music in Romford since 2018 through its National Lottery Project Grants. There have been no successful applications for Arts Council investment in Romford from organisations focused on English folk music, but there is an active folk scene including Haverfolk and the Romford Folk Club as well as the Romford and Brentford Folk Dance group. As these groups meet at public houses in Romford, the venues would be eligible, should they wish, to apply for funding via Arts Council England’s DCMS-supported ‘Supporting Grassroots Music’ programme. These groups could also apply for support via National Lottery Project Grants.</p><p>HM Government has also announced the intention to ratify the UNESCO 2003 Convention for Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, which could help promote folk music traditions across the UK. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/01/2024 answer text <p>The Government is committed to supporting a sustainable long-term future for public libraries in England.</p><p>The Public Libraries and Museums Act 1964 requires all local authorities in England to provide a comprehensive and efficient library service. In considering how best to deliver this statutory duty, each local authority is responsible for determining local needs and delivering a modern and efficient library service that meets the requirements of their communities within available resources. This includes conservation efforts for monuments situated in listed places of worship. These grants apply when the monument is an integral part of the building's structure.</p><p>Since August 2022, £39,054,024 has been funded to historic churches across the UK through the grant scheme. Government support for church music is primarily channelled through Arts Council England, which between 2019/20 and 2023/24 has funded activity with a choral element or focus by more than £190 million. Although this funding is not specifically aimed at music traditional to the Church of England, this funding has supported the development, touring and promotion of choral music throughout England, including organisations the focus of which is on music in the tradition of the Church of England.</p><p>Government provides support for churches via the Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme, which provides grants to cover the VAT expenses associated with repair and conservation of listed churches. This includes conservation efforts for monuments situated in listed places of worship. At present there is up to £42m available per year and this amount of funding has been secured until 31 March 2025. One of the eligible costs for the LPWGS is pipe organs permanently fixed to the structure of the listed building, with essential restoration and repair works being enabled through Government financial support. Since August 2022, £39,054,024 has been funded to historic churches across the UK through the grant scheme. This will go specifically towards supporting emerging designer talent and increasing access to the sector, delivered through the British Fashion Council’s NEWGEN programme.</p><p>DCMS also supports the UK Research and Investment (UKRI) £15 million Circular Fashion programme, launched in 2022 to bring the sector, academia and government together to understand and drive the fashion and textiles industry towards sustainable and responsible practices. This programme will be critical in developing this area of research and meeting the goal of transforming the fashion and textiles sector to adopt economically viable and scalable circular models by 2032.</p><p>The textiles, fashion and craft industries play an important role in the UK’s social and cultural heritage, and are a major driver of economic growth. The UK is famous for its unrivalled creativity and innovation and it has a track record for producing some of the world’s most influential designers. Recognising this contribution, we are committed to supporting future growth in the sector. It makes places great to live and work in; helps to attract tourism and supports the local economy; and gives people pride in their community. The Government, our national agencies, local authorities, and the brilliant people working and volunteering in the sector all play a role in protecting and promoting our shared heritage.</p><p>The Government has invested £95 million in Historic England’s High Street Heritage Action Zones scheme, which targets 67 high streets across England to encourage economic growth and increase pride in place. We are also coordinating engagement between the sites and the Government's expert advisers on cultural and natural heritage — Historic England and the Joint Nature Conservation Committee.
