	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/03/2019 answer text <p>Tackling serious violence is a top priority for the Government and it is clear we must continue to step up the response to stop this violence. The Serious Violence Strategy sets out the Government’s approach, which depends also on a multi-agency approach across several sectors and stresses the importance of early intervention to tackle the root causes.</p><p>The Home Secretary announced in October 2018 that the Government will: deliver a new £200 million youth endowment fund over 10 years and will support interventions with children and young people at risk of involvement in crime and violence; conduct an independent review of drug misuse which will ensure law enforcement agencies and policy are targeting and preventing the drug-related causes of violent crime effectively; consult on a new legal duty to support a multi-agency approach to preventing and tackling serious violence.</p><p>The consultation will explore different options to make multi-agency working more effective than at present and will seek to identify best practice. The consultation will be launched shortly.</p><p>In addition, the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced on 13 March that an additional £100 million funding in 19/20 will help in the police’s immediate response to the rise in serious knife crime, enabling priority forces to immediately begin planning to put in place the additional capacity they need. The Government informed UK citizens of the activities of the Muslim Brotherhood in its comprehensive review, completed in December 2015 and published on gov.uk. The review concluded the movement is a secretive organisation and that parts of it – globally – have a highly ambiguous relationship with violent extremism.</p><p>The Government keeps under review the views promoted and activities undertaken by the Muslim Brotherhood<strong>’</strong>s associates in the UK in accordance with the five commitments included in the former Prime Minister’s statement to Parliament. We have robust laws to tackle such criminal offences.</p><p>In April the Home Secretary committed to continuation of the Jewish Community Protective Security Grant for 2021-22. This £14m funding supports the provision of security guarding and other measures at key community sites such as schools, colleges, nurseries and synagogues across the country.</p><p>We also routinely work with the Community Security Trust (CST) to understand and respond to the security needs of the Jewish community. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/04/2021 answer text <p>This Government is committed to ensuring that perpetrators of domestic abuse and violence against women and girls are brought to justice, and ensuring victims know where and how to access support.</p><p>In April last year we launched guidance on our.gov.uk website and delivered a successful #YouAreNotAlone awareness raising campaign to signpost victims to help and support services - reaching almost 30 million UK adults and securing over 130 million followers on social media.</p><p>This January, we also launched a new Ask for ANI Codeword scheme to enable domestic abuse victims to seek safe and discreet support from over 5000 participating pharmacies across the UK who will be able to provide victim focussed support, including engagement with specialist victim support services and the police as necessary</p><p>We know that rape and sexual assault are devastating crimes. We want all victims to have the confidence to report them, knowing that every investigation will be conducted thoroughly, and everything will be done to bring offenders to justice. That is why we commissioned an end-to-end review of the criminal justice system response to rape.</p><p>As indicated in my answer of 27 January, we expect the review to report with actions for cross-system improvement later this spring. We want to ensure the review, when published, is as well evidenced as possible, so that it delivers meaningful and long-lasting change.</p><p>Added to this, the government has committed new funding to support victims of rape and sexual abuse. The Ministry of Justice announced earlier this year victims of rape and domestic abuse will be helped by a major £40m funding boost for specialist support services. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/07/2019 answer text <p>This Government has been clear there should be no safe space online for terrorists and their supporters to radicalise, recruit, incite, or inspire. The UK has been at the forefront of the online battle against extremist and terrorist material.</p><p>The dedicated police Counter Terrorism Internet Referral Unit (CTIRU) refers content that they assess as contravening UK terrorism legislation to industry and have secured the removal of over 310,000 pieces of terrorist material since its inception in February 2010.</p><p>The UK Government was instrumental in setting up the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism (GIFCT), an industry-led forum, following the 2017 terrorist attacks. We continue to press for the GIFCT to lead a more robust and coordinated cross-industry response to reduce the availability of terrorist content on the internet.</p><p>We continue to work with technology companies, including Twitter, to encourage them to take further steps in tackling terrorist material on the Internet. While companies have taken positive steps, the Government has been clear that more needs to be done to tackle online harms, including extremist content. That is why we are working with the police, industry and other partners to develop and deliver a comprehensive action plan focusing on what works and what more needs to be done.</p><p>In London, the police are using new tactics including off-road bikes and DNA marker sprays to catch those committing these offences and Metropolitan Police figures show that these crimes have been decreasing since their peak in July last year. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/03/2019 answer text <p>As set out in the Serious Violence Strategy, the Government is taking a range of action to support the police and others to prevent acid attacks. This is based on the action plan announced in July 2017 which is focused on ensuring effective support to victims and survivors, supporting effective policing, ensuring that the legislation is understood and consistently applied, and restricting access to acids and other harmful corrosive products.</p><p>We are working with the National Police Chiefs’ Council on delivery to ensure that the policing response is effective to prevent attacks from happening in the first place, but also in providing support to victims where they do. The National Police Chiefs’ Council has developed appropriate training for officers, including first responder training, specialist investigative guidance to help police officers understand how to safely recover and handle any evidence at the scene and the evidence required to build a case for prosecution.</p><p>We are also strengthening the powers available to the police through the Offensive Weapons Bill which is currently passing through Parliament. The Bill includes legislative measures on stopping the sale and delivery of corrosive products to under 18s and making it an offence to possess a corrosive substance in a public place.</p><p>Alongside this, the Home Secretary announced on 20 February 2019 that we will be extending stop and search powers for corrosive substances to allow the police to be able to enforce the new possession offence effectively. <br>We are also working with the Government’s Defence Science and Technology Laboratory to develop corrosive testing kits for the police to support them in situations where they believe that a suspect is carrying a corrosive substance in public.</p><p>In addition, the Government has commissioned the University of Leicester to examine what motivates offenders to carry and use acid and other corrosive substances in violent attacks. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/05/2019 answer text <p>The UK is a world-leader in the fight to stamp out the brutal practice of forced marriage, with our joint Home Office and Foreign and Commonwealth Office Forced Marriage Unit (FMU) leading efforts to combat it both at home and abroad. We made forced marriage a criminal offence in 2014 to better protect victims, sending a clear message that this abhorrent practice is totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated in the UK. In 2017 we also introduced lifelong anonymity for victims of forced marriage to encourage more victims of this hidden crime to come forward.</p><p>An “arranged marriage” is one where parents or other relatives choose a potential suitor, but both parties involved have the final say and can withdraw at any point. As such, it is not illegal. If a person changes their mind during that process and then is not allowed to stop the marriage – this becomes a forced marriage and is unacceptable.</p><p>The FMU operates a public helpline to provide advice and support to victims, those at risk, and professionals. The support offered ranges from providing information and guidance to organising rescue and repatriation to the UK for victims overseas. In November 2018 we also launched the Forced Marriage Awareness Campaign, which highlights that forced marriage is a crime and directs victims to contact the helpline for support</p><p>Border Force officers at UK ports and airports are trained to look for those at risk of Honour Based Abuse (HBA), including forced marriage.
