star this property answer text <p>Those without leave to remain in the UK should make arrangements to return to their home country. A Voluntary Return Service exists to support those wishing to leave the UK, and can include assistance with organising travel and reintegration support in their country of return.</p><p>The Home Office works with stakeholders including Local Authorities, non-profit organisations and other government departments to raise awareness of the service and support families and individuals without status return to their home country.</p><p>The department also engages with diaspora communities to raise awareness of the risks and consequences of illegal migration, and the options to regularise stay or to return voluntarily to their country of origin.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government is clear that benefits should only be provided for the lawful residents of the UK, including migrants who are settled here.</p><p>The Government has taken steps to prevent illegal access to benefits, with those migrants who abuse the UK’s hospitality facing having to repay any benefits obtained. The will also be liable to be refused immigration leave, or having it curtailed, prosecution and removal from the UK.</p> more like this

We continue to monitor the situation closely and take these exceptional circumstances into account. We may make further adjustments to requirements where necessary and appropriate to ensure no one is penalised for circumstances beyond their control.</p><p> </p><p>The minimum income requirement can be met in a number of ways in addition to or instead of income from employment or self-employment. star this property answer text <p>On 22 May, the Home Secretary announced the details of new measures at the UK border to guard against a second wave of coronavirus infections, including the requirement for arrivals to the UK to self-isolate for 14 days. The arrangements are due to come into effect on 8 June.</p><p> </p><p>As the UK moves to a situation where domestic transmission is much lower, imported cases may become a higher proportion of the overall number of infections. The requirement to self-isolate will reduce the risk of transmission from this group.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Chagossians born on the British Indian Ocean Territory are British Overseas Territories Citizens, and also automatically became British citizens under the British Overseas Territories Act 2002. These individuals therefore already have the right of abode in the United Kingdom.</p><p> </p><p>Under current British nationality law, citizenship is normally only passed on to one generation born abroad. British citizens can make use of existing immigration routes to bring their family members to the UK.</p><p> </p><p>We have no plans to extend the arrangements for British Nationals (Overseas) set out on 1 July 2020 to Chagossians.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p><del class="ministerial">Current regulations provide for marriages and civil partnerships to take place in England only in exceptional circumstances i.e. where one of the parties is seriously ill and not expected to recover. It is for local authorities to ensure ceremonies can be safely delivered in line with Public Health and local authority guidance.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">Marriages and civil partnerships can take place in Wales where appropriate risk assessments have been undertaken and safety measures are in place</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial">National restrictions in England came to an end on 2 December. Marriages and civil partnerships are allowed under each of the current four tiers of local restrictions in England, and it is for local authorities to ensure ceremonies can be safely delivered in line with Public Health and local authority guidance</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">Marriages and Civil Partnerships can take place in Wales where appropriate risk assessments have been undertaken and safety measures are in place.</ins></p><p> </p>
