star this property answer text <p>The Ministry of Defence has invested £300 million to prepare RAF Marham for the F-35 Lightning jets, including resurfacing the second runway with little to no impact on Tornado operations. All elements of the infrastructure programme at RAF Marham are expected to be completed to meet programme needs.</p><p>The first four UK F-35 Lightning jets arrived at RAF Marham on 6 June 2018, two months ahead of schedule, 617 Squadron will continue their operational work-up training in readiness for their Initial Operating Capability, which is expected to be reached by the end of this year.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>As the Prime Minister stated in Munich, the UK wants to agree a future relationship with the European Defence Fund, including the European Industrial Development Programme. The UK has always participated in European collaborative programmes and we support this new mechanism for managing collaboration.</p><p>Our track record shows we have much to offer and our defence industry is world-class. We have a key role to play in European defence and security.</p><p>We are open to considering all options for participation in the EDF and the Government will be guided by what delivers the greatest economic advantage to the UK and UK industry.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>We have successfully piloted the Great Place to Work scheme across six government Departments and have commenced the roll out of this initiative across Departments for all Civil Service roles, including Senior Civil Servant positions by the end of March 2022. During the pilot phase, the scheme received 3,000 applications, made 155 appointments to roles and saw 180 successful applicants placed on a reserve list.</p><p> </p><p>The new Veterans’ Strategy Action Plan outlines over 60 commitments funded by over £70 million from departments across Government, including initiatives to make sure veterans are able to find quality employment after leaving service.</p><p> </p><p>These commitments build on recent progress and support to encourage employers to recruit veterans, such as the National Insurance contribution holiday for employers of Service leavers and the Defence Employer Recognition scheme. We have committed to promoting pathways into careers in public service for veterans, such as teaching and in the uniformed and health services and introduced a fast-track recruitment scheme for veterans wishing to become prison officers.</p><p> </p>
