We are working with the Peruvian Government to drive sustainable development that protects human rights and delivers climate objectives. We monitor the threats that indigenous people face from groups linked to serious and organised crime, as well as the actions of the Peruvian Government to protect these communities. I [Minister Rutley] was saddened to hear of the tragic murder of Quinto Inuma Alvarado - whom I met recently in Peru and who spoke so passionately about protecting the Amazon. Minister Docherty, the Minister of State for Europe, spoke at a Westminster Hall Debate on 22 June and mentioned ongoing work between the UK and Brazil to improve safety measures around tailings dam management. In 2019, following the collapse of the Brumadinho dam in Brazil, the Department for International Trade supported an initiative to publish the world's first Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management, to help improve safety worldwide. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/06/2022 answer text <p>The Government is committed to managing the public finances in a responsible way bytargeting the £650 Cost of Living Payment support at the 8 million low income means-tested households where it is most needed. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/07/2019 answer text <p>Local authorities are able to make decisions based on local needs and the arrangements that work best for them, and it is for local authorities to determine how to prioritise their resources.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is investing in Britain’s future, and this year’s local government finance settlement includes extra funding for local services. Local authorities will have access to £46.4 billion this financial year (2019/20) to meet the needs of their residents including for the protection of animal welfare. This is a cash increase of 2.8% and a real terms increase which will strengthen services and support to local communities.</p><p> </p><p>Local authorities can also ensure that they have fully trained inspectors to enforce the Animal Welfare Act 2006 through resources available to them to enforce The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018. The 2018 Regulations give local authorities the power to charge a cost recovery fee to cover the cost of enforcement of the regulations including inspections of premises. The Government commissioned research on how best to support the industry to continue to meet these targets in the face of climate change. APHA holds data on animals landed in Great Britain that do not meet the import requirements and therefore require quarantine, under the Rabies (Importation of Dogs, Cats and Other Mammals) Order 1974 (as amended) (RIO).</p><p> </p><p>The number of puppies quarantined in the last three years can be found in the table below. As a result, Defra and APHA have put in place mechanisms to understand the cause of non-compliance through collaborative working with third sector partners, enhanced working with carriers and better sharing of information by developing intelligence networks.</p><p> </p><p>Due to the complex landscape, it is not possible to correlate the number of seizures to any one particular initiative. There have been a number of recent focused efforts from all involved parties including training carrier operatives on the requirements for compliant travel and changes to the hours of working of APHA staff at Dover.
