The Government will then consider the recommendations before agreeing the final 2019 Armed Forces Pay Award, taking into account the need to recruit, retain, and motivate suitably able and qualified personnel, as well as the long term affordability of the Armed Forces.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <br /><p>The Armed Forces meet the requirement of Raising the Participation Age, as defined in the Education and Skills Act 2008.</p><p>In the Naval Service, all new recruits, whether Royal Navy or Royal Marines and irrespective of age, undertake a Level 2 accredited apprenticeship. This is as part of Phase 2 training for the Royal Navy and Phase 1 training for the Royal Marines.</p><p>The Army provides full-time training and education to all recruits aged 16 and 17, largely through the Junior Entry courses at Army Foundation College, Harrogate.</p><p>All non-commissioned Royal Air Force recruits, regardless of their age, are enrolled onto a Level 2, Level 3 or Level 4 accredited apprenticeship according to their Trade.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Army is compliant with the Government policy requiring apprenticeships to offer learners training to Level 2 English and mathematics where that level has not already been achieved. Soldiers enrolled onto a Level 2 apprenticeship are expected to study towards Level 2 English and mathematics if they have already achieved English and mathematics at Level 1. When a soldier being enrolled on a Level 2 apprenticeship does not have any prior attainment in functional skills, they will be assessed on enrolment and will study English and mathematics at Level 1 or Level 2 depending upon an assessment of their current skill.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Throughout the Armed Forces’ history, personnel have not been permitted to participate in industrial action or in any form of political activity.</p><p> </p><p>Armed Forces personnel are free to join trade and professional associations. They may also join other organisations representing their interests such as the Forces Pension Society, the British Armed Forces Federation, the single Service Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender fora, and the Armed Forces Muslim Association.</p><p> </p><p>The chain of command is responsible for representing the interests of those under command, and all Service personnel have a statutory right to complain on any matter relating to their service. Broader interests are represented through the independent Armed Forces Pay Review Body and the three Single Service Families’ Federations.</p><p> </p> more like this
