answer text <p>In the first days of this Government, the Prime Minister and I met Mayors in Downing Street to discuss devolution and the critical role for mayors in delivering our Mission of Economic Growth.</p><p>Building on the last Labour Government’s legacy of the devolution in Scotland and Wales, the Prime Minister and I are determined to see devolution extended to every corner of England and I have invited local areas without a devolution agreement to come forward.</p><p>We will continue to work with local leaders, councils, Members of Parliament and stakeholders to deepen and widen devolution across England.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Local authorities should already be working together when preparing development plans under the current plan making system as the Duty to Cooperate remains in place.</p><p>The consultation on proposed reforms to the NPPF published on 31 July included proposals to strengthen co-operation between local authorities on the sharing of unmet housing need and other strategic issues.</p><p>It also sought views on our proposed intention to introduce mandatory mechanisms for cross-boundary co-operation with a view to moving to a model of universal strategic planning coverage within the next five years.</p> more like this

answer text <p>On 30 July we opened an eight week consultation on a revised National Planning Policy Framework.</p><p>As well as reversing the damaging anti-supply changes made by the previous government in December 2023, proposed reforms include making housing targets mandatory, strengthening policy support for brownfield development, and the targeted release of low-quality grey belt land within the green belt.</p><p>The consultation will run until Tuesday 24 September.</p> more like this
