answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/10/2023 answer text <p>Operation Safeguard is a contingency measure that provides additional headroom for use if prisoners cannot be accepted from the courts or police custody. It is a temporary measure to provide a short-term solution. When Operation Safeguard is active, tactical and operational governance reviews take place at regular intervals, as agreed with police partners.</p><p> </p><p>There are no additional costs to the taxpayer and any spend under Operation Safeguard comes from within existing departmental budgets. Every aspect of Operation Safeguard – including compensation for cells – is based on agreements between HMPPS, the police and the Home Office. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/12/2018 answer text <p>We are very concerned about the reports that these executions may be imminent and we are closely monitoring these cases. We last raised these concerns on 20 November and 3 December, when we discussed both the substance of the cases and the UK’s long standing opposition to the death penalty. This guidance is available at:</p><p><a href="http://www.gov.uk/government/publications/protection-of-school-playing-fields-and-public-land-advice" target="_blank">www.gov.uk/government/publications/protection-of-school-playing-fields-and-public-land-advice</a></p><p> </p><p>If land ceases, or will cease, to be used for an academy, the Secretary of State may need to make a determination in order to protect the public investment in the land.
