<p>The Government, through UK Research and Innovation, fund informal learning programmes
to inspire young people to take up STEM subjects and careers and provide a future
generation passionate about STEM, including geological science. For example, we support
the STEM Ambassador programme, a nationwide network of over 30,000 volunteers from
a wide range of employers, who engage with young people to provide stimulating and
inspirational activities to increase their interest in STEM subjects and to raise
awareness of the range of careers that STEM qualifications offer.</p>
