We remain determined to tackle air pollution and the negative impacts that it has
on public health, the economy and the environment. This is why we recently announced
a £2 billion package to create a new era for cycling and walking – the largest ever
boost for cyclists and pedestrians – which includes £225 million to help local authorities
create pop-up cycle lanes and reallocate road space. This package builds on the recent
Budget announcements of £1bn in further support to promote the uptake of ultra-low
emission vehicles, including up to £500m to support the rollout of a super-fast charging
network, and a further £304m to reduce nitrogen dioxide emissions.
