star this property answer text <p>The Action Plan for Animal Welfare outlined our intention to explore potential action on the import of animal fur. We have since conducted a Call for Evidence on the fur sector along with other forms of engagement with interested parties. We are continuing to build our evidence base on the fur sector.</p><p>The production of foie gras by force feeding is banned in the UK as it is incompatible with our domestic legislation. We are committed to building a clear evidence base to inform any potential future decisions relating to imports.</p><p>HM Government has pledged to ban the imports of hunting trophies from thousands of species. We are committed to a ban that is among the strongest in the world and leads the way in protecting endangered animals. We are supporting the Private Member’s Bill led by the hon. We are taking forward an ambitious programme of reforms which will maintain our world leading position on animal welfare.</p><p> </p><p>All imports of meat must come from animals that have been subject to humane slaughter methods and some animal products cannot be imported into the UK. This includes cat and dog fur, and seal products which are not covered by specific limited exemptions.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>HM Government takes the welfare of all animals seriously and as set out in our Action Plan for Animal Welfare, we are committed to promoting high animal welfare standards, both at home and abroad. We have an ambitious agenda of animal welfare and conservation reforms, and this includes introducing or supporting legislation for specific reforms.</p><p> </p><p>We have pledged to ban the imports of hunting trophies from thousands of species. HM Government is committed to a ban that is among the strongest in the world and leads the way in protecting endangered animals. We welcome the Private Member’s Bill, led by the hon. Member for Crawley, that will deliver this.</p><p> </p><p>We are also committed to banning the import and export of detached shark fins and shark fin products. This ban will help ensure that shark fins obtained through unsustainable and cruel finning practices are not entering the UK. HM Government is committed to the ban and welcomes the Private Member’s Bill, led by the hon. Member for Neath, on this topic.</p>
