star this property answer text <p>In September 2021, the Government announced that Armed Forces charities would receive £5 million in additional funding to support veterans, including those who may be struggling following events in Afghanistan.</p><p> </p><p>Whilst a full qualitative and quantitative analysis of this funding will be undertaken by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust (AFCFT), who have administered this on behalf of the Office for Veterans’ Affairs, at the appropriate time, the AFCFT has already seen positive impacts during their mid-programmes reviews.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Successful awards from the £5m Veterans' Health Innovation Fund were announced on 23 February 2023. The funding will support organisations that are developing cutting-edge technologies to help veterans with complex healthcare needs.</p><p>Organisations across the UK were able to bid for £2.7m of the fund under four themes: Digital, data and technology; Surgical technology, bioengineering and rehabilitation with blast injuries; Public Health, pain management, hearing loss and visual impairment; and Female veterans. A further £2.3m was given to partners who are already carrying out excellent research in the veterans health sector.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>This Government is determined to end veterans homelessness this year. To achieve this ambition, we are providing up to £8m to organisations across the UK to address veterans homelessness and rough sleeping through the provision of mental health, employment and recovery provision in veteran supported housing, which will be supplemented by Op FORTITUDE, the designated referral pathway for veterans experiencing or facing homelessness.</p><p>This is in addition to the £20 million for a Veterans Housing Capital Fund the Chancellor announced during his Spring Budget, which will go towards providing extra housing for veterans through the development of new builds and the refurbishment of existing social and charitable housing.</p><p>More broadly, veterans are supported by the Government's ‘Ending Rough Sleeping for Good’ strategy which is backed by £2 billion to tackle homelessness and rough sleeping across the country.</p><p><strong><p><p></strong></p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>This Government is committed to ensuring that veterans of the British nuclear testing programme are recognised and supported for their efforts in helping create our nuclear deterrent.</p><p>On 21 November 2022, the Government hosted an event at the National Memorial Arboretum to mark the contribution of Nuclear Test Veterans. This was attended by a number of service personnel, veterans and their families, and representatives from military charities. At the event, the Prime Minister announced a new medal to honour the significant contribution of veterans and civilian staff from across the Commonwealth.</p><p>Since then, the OVA has opened the £200,000 Nuclear Test Veteran Community Fund for applications from organisations to build community led programmes that help recognise and support nuclear test veterans and their families.</p><p> </p> more like this
